🤔 #"ComputerScience major "has one of the highest unemployment rates." "Despite computer science being ranked as number one by the Princeton Review for #college majors, the #tech industry may not be living up to #graduates' expectations." "On the other hand, majors like nutrition sciences, construction services and civil engineering had some of the lowest unemployment rates, hovering between 1 percent to as low as 0.4 percent." #AI newsweek.com/computer-science-

Newsweek · A Popular College Major Has One of The Highest Unemployment RatesBy Suzanne Blake

What an incredible experience spending time with the young professionals at LinkedIn WIT [In]spire Day!

These young people are our future. They’re bright, curious, and full of potential. They left me inspired by the future they will help shape. As they step into the next chapter of their professional lives, I shared three guiding principles that have served me well:

1. Get stuff done.
Don’t get distracted by every trend. Build the skills that enable you to deliver real results. Talk is cheap, execution matters.

2. Find work joy (thank you Shanell for introducing me to this term!).
Your definition of fulfillment will evolve, let it. Give yourself permission to explore what energizes you and revalidate it often. Know who’s going to be your advisor during time of indecision- for me, that’s Sabrina. Who's got your back?

3. Have tenacity, but also freedom.
Progress takes time. Stay committed. Be patient. But also recognize when it’s time to move forward in a new direction. Think of your career not as a ladder, but more like a spider - explore (thanks for this analogy, Sabry!)

To all who are just starting their careers: You are more ready than you think. Show up, stay curious, and lean into growth. The world needs your ideas, your energy, and your drive.

Let’s build the future together.

Thank you Christine for providing me the opportunity to spend time with these amazing young people today at WIT [In]spire Day!

Day 18 🎓👩‍🎓👨‍🎓💰💰💰💰💰

#Labor has promised to wipe 20 per cent of all HECS debts if elected, but the #Coalition (#LNP, #Liberal, #Nationals) has labelled the policy "profoundly unfair" saying it'll give some of the country's highest earners a boost and penalise those who swiftly paid what they owed.

It comes as new research shows the time it takes to pay off #HECS debts has increased while the earning premium for #graduates halved over the same period.” — #ABCNewsAustralia

A reminder, most #Politicians all sides with the exception of #Littleproud, proudly wear their University educational achievements they earned with little or no HECS debt.

We are worrying about #AI and new #graduates biggest question is which first language and framework to chose in Software engineering... A large amount of companies still run #Cobol! which is old...
You try to stay on the edge of the technological development and maybe also realy enjoy learning new things. But it is an elephant task to move an old system just from Cobol to Java and an investment not every Company can do. It is a clash of interests...
