Musk’s politics see Tesla sales collapse in Europe

#Tesla is in deep trouble in Europe.

A small and outdated product portfolio was already looking stale, but Musk’s hard-right turn and the US government’s ongoing antagonism toward the rest of the world has soured the brand entirely.

The UK has been one of Tesla’s biggest markets in Europe, but Tesla’s sales fell by 62%—the automaker registered just 512 cars all month.

In Germany, Tesla’s 46% year on year decline should have alarm bells ringing. A recent survey of more than 100,000 Germans found that 94% said they would never purchase a Tesla thanks to Musk’s support for Trump and Germany’s far-right party AfD.

Some other European countries have seen even more significant sales declines. In Sweden, Tesla sales dropped 81%. In the Netherlands, sales were down 73.8%. In Denmark, sales fell by 67%, and in France, they fell by 59%.

@mrclark This won't work. It's the same kind of fraud many attempt when buying stuff from China - ask the seller to declare that the goods are worth 10 cents or so.

The customs, at least in theory base tariffs on the market value of the goods, rather than on the declared or any other value. Declaring goods worth 10 cents might work for mere mortals, although I won't advise doing this either, but if Amazon attempts this, it won't fly.

Just as productive as protesting is disagreeing with people who give their MAGA take on things. At the dog park for example, a lady comments that people opposed to Musk are “terrorists”. Uh, no they’re not. I should’ve added that the terrorists are the masked thugs breaking down doors and taking people’s stuff in the name of immigration enforcement.
