Snowflower<p>I keep forgetting that it's Friday. It feels like a Saturday to me. So, here's a late <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/FridayReads" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FridayReads</span></a>. Last night I finished The Guncle (3.75⭐️) and haven't found a new fiction book I'm in the mood for yet. <br>For nonfiction I've been enjoying Butts: A Backstory by Heather Radke. <br>To my son I've been reading Midnight at the Houdini by Delilah S Dawson. <br><a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/books" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>books</span></a> <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/bookstodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bookstodon</span></a> <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/AmReading" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AmReading</span></a></p>
David Brent 📚<p>I don't read a ton of graphic novels, but for some reason I Kill Giants by Joe Kelly wound up on my TBR a while back, and I'm glad it did. It definitely has my attention and I just discovered that it was adapted into a movie! One more thing to occupy my time. 🙂 </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Books" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Books</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Bookstodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Bookstodon</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/FridayReads" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FridayReads</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/AmReading" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AmReading</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/GraphicNovels" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GraphicNovels</span></a> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/bookstodon" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>bookstodon</span></a></span></p>
Frank Skornia<p>Finally, I'm still listening to 'City of Blades' by Robert Jackson Bennett on audio.<br>This is probably even better than the first book in the series, mainly because Mulaghesh is a more unique and interesting protagonist and viewpoint than Shara was in 'City of Stairs'. I also always loving seeing older protagonists in novels. Too many kids saving the world in fantasy, let the adults get it done.<br><a href="https://glammr.us/tags/FridayReads" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FridayReads</span></a><br><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/bookstodon" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>bookstodon</span></a></span></p>
Frank Skornia<p>Also plodding my way through 'Father of Route 66: The Story of Cy Avery' by Susan Croce Kelly<br>This is exactly what the title says it is. A look at the man from Tulsa who became an important figure in building roads and highways in Oklahoma and throughout the country in the early 20th century. He was also one of the main organizers of bringing clean water to Tulsa.<br><a href="https://glammr.us/tags/FridayReads" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FridayReads</span></a><br><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/bookstodon" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>bookstodon</span></a></span></p>
Frank Skornia<p>On the train ride back from Philly I also started the ARC of 'The Maiden and Her Monster' by Maddie Martinez.<br>This is a version of the golem tale from Jewish folklore. A young woman ventures into a deadly forest seeking a monster so she can save her mother from an injustice. She finds something very different than she expected.<br>Debut novel from the author and I'm enjoying it very much.<br><a href="https://glammr.us/tags/FridayReads" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FridayReads</span></a><br><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/bookstodon" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>bookstodon</span></a></span></p>
Frank Skornia<p>Because of some recent traveling, this Friday I'm unusually in the midst of several different books.<br>The first is 'Written on the Dark' by one of my most favorite writers, Guy Gavriel Kay.<br>Continuing to write in the low magic alternate fantasy history world he has created in Al-Rassan, Sarantine Mosaic, and several others, I just realized that this book is his version of Joan of Arc, Henry V, and the French Civil War in the 15th century.<br><a href="https://glammr.us/tags/FridayReads" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FridayReads</span></a> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/bookstodon" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>bookstodon</span></a></span></p>

David Brent 📚<p>Two years ago I listened to the audiobook Moriarty by Anthony Horowitz, which turns out to be the SECOND book in the "Horowitz's Holmes" series. I liked it so much (Sherlock Holmes is hard for me to not like) that now I'm getting around to The House of Silk, which is the first. </p><p>Oops. 🙄 </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Books" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Books</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Bookstodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Bookstodon</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/AmReading" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AmReading</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/FridayReads" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FridayReads</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/SherlockHolmes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SherlockHolmes</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Fictoin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Fictoin</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Mystery" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Mystery</span></a> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/bookstodon" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>bookstodon</span></a></span></p>
Snowflower<p>This week I'm close to finishing Frankenstein with my son and started Run for the Hills by Kevin Wilson for myself. </p><p><a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/books" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>books</span></a> <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/bookstodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bookstodon</span></a> <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/AmReading" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AmReading</span></a> <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/FridayReads" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FridayReads</span></a></p>
pcarlson001<p>Good morning. My <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/FridayReads" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FridayReads</span></a> is a re-read of Tudors by Peter Ackroyd. <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/books" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>books</span></a></p>

Frank Skornia<p>I also started listening to 'The City of Blades' by Robert Jackson Bennett on audio</p><p>This one is new for me (the first book, City of Stairs had been a reread). I'm enjoying the main character perspective shift and the continued world building. Bennett does a good job giving us a unique world with some interesting problems.</p><p><a href="https://glammr.us/tags/FridayReads" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FridayReads</span></a></p><p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/bookstodon" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>bookstodon</span></a></span></p>
Frank Skornia<p>This week I'm onto some new books!</p><p>I am currently reading 'The Last Watch' by JS Dewes</p><p>Far future military space opera dealing with the collapse of the universe. I'm a little troubled with the descriptions of the "edge of the universe" and humanity being there because space is really really really really big. It would be more believable as the edge of the galaxy. Oh well, we'll see how it goes.<br>It's a far cry from the 1911 Coney Island with mer-folk of my last book</p><p><a href="https://glammr.us/tags/FridayReads" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FridayReads</span></a> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/bookstodon" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>bookstodon</span></a></span></p>
Snowflower<p>I'm currently reading The Tree by Colin Tudge for nonfiction reading. And I'm also still reading The Guncle and Frankenstein. </p><p><a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/books" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>books</span></a> <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/bookstodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bookstodon</span></a> <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/FridayReads" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FridayReads</span></a> <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/AmReading" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AmReading</span></a></p>
