Una Vita da Cinefilo<p><strong>Recensione “Lee Miller”: La Ragazza con la&nbsp;Rolleiflex</strong></p><p class="">Il problema atavico di tanti film ispirati alla vita di grandi fotografi e grandi fotografe è che, pressoché sempre, le foto che hanno realizzato sono decisamente più interessanti del contesto in cui si muovono le loro vite. Il film di Ellen Kuras dedicato alla carriera di Lee Miller, modella e musa di Man Ray prima, corrispondente di guerra in qualità di fotoreporter dopo, non fa eccezione, dimostrandosi troppo convenzionale nel raccontare il lavoro di una donna straordinaria, una fotografa immersa per anni in un mondo dominato da uomini armati (da questo punto di vista è stata la più grande della sua epoca, seconda forse soltanto alla spericolata quanto eccezionale Margaret Bourke-White, sulla quale il cinema prima o poi dovrebbe puntare lo sguardo).</p><p class="">Gran parte del film mostra le sequenze in cui, con le libertà narrative del caso, Lee Miller ha scattato le sue immagini più celebri, dalle dipendenti di Vogue con le maschere antincendio alla celeberrima immagine della stessa fotografa intenta a lavarsi nella vasca da bagno di Hitler, dopo la fine della guerra. Sempre chinando il capo verso la sua Rolleiflex, con la quale ha raccontato, oltre agli orrori del mondo, soprattutto donne di qualunque genere, che siano ragazze in un rifugio antiaereo, aviatrici, naziste suicide o bambine spaventate. Saranno questi i frammenti più belli di <strong><em>Lee Miller</em></strong>.</p><p class="">Ellen Kuras è senza dubbio più celebre come direttrice della fotografia che come regista (qui al suo primo film di finzione dopo il documentario <em>The Betrayal</em>, candidato all’Oscar), basti pensare al suo lavoro più importante, <em>Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind</em>, nel quale ha plasmato visivamente le idee di Michel Gondry, contribuendo a consegnare il film alla storia del cinema. Senza dubbio è interessante vedere un’esperta di luci accostarsi al lavoro di una fotografa, che fa della luce il suo inchiostro quotidiano, peccato però che ogni scena proceda con il pilota automatico, sprecando un cast prezioso, costellato da perle come Marion Cotillard e Noemie Merlant, oltre alla protagonista Kate Winslet. Nonostante proceda tutto come ci si aspetti, compresa la galleria delle reali immagini di Lee Miller durante i titoli di coda, è un film pieno di intensità, di carica emotiva, che ha bisogno di far sentire la propria voce. Ma la fatica di Ellen Kuras alla fine non fa altro che rimpolpare la lunga lista di film incentrati sul lavoro di fotoreporter di guerra: da <em>Sotto Tiro</em> a <em>Mille Volte Buona Notte</em>, da <em><a href="https://unavitadacinefilo.com/2015/03/03/recensione-the-bang-bang-club-2010/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Bang Bang Club</a></em> al recente <em><a href="https://unavitadacinefilo.com/2024/03/26/recensione-civil-war-2024/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Civil War</a> </em>(dove la protagonista si chiama, guarda caso, proprio Lee…), solo per citarne alcuni. Per carità, <strong><em>Lee Miller</em></strong> non è peggiore di tanti titoli simili, ma il punto è che non riesce neanche a essere migliore e la domanda che segue è: forse ci stiamo stufando di vedere così tante rappresentazioni della Seconda Guerra Mondiale? Forse sarebbe il caso di mostrarla in maniera diversa (come fatto straordinariamente da <em><a href="https://unavitadacinefilo.com/2024/02/01/recensione-la-zona-dinteresse-2023/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">La Zona d’Interesse</a></em>)? Forse il problema di questo film è proprio nell’immaginario che ci mostra, a cui siamo probabilmente assuefatti? Rimugino su questo punto senza conoscere una risposta, certo però di poter aprire un motore di ricerca, sfogliare le immagini di Lee Miller e restare con gli occhi incollati a quelle foto straordinarie.
