I'm in #FortWilliam and at a loss where to go. West to #Arisaig the A road is too dangerous for cyclists and there are no offroad alternatives for most of the journey. East to #Ballater / #Aberdeen the A roads are also a no go for cyclists. There are offroad routes but I'm not sure if they're easy enough to ride on my heavily loaded bike.
Anyone any suggestions?
If everything else fails I'll head north along the Great Glen to Inverness, although I was going to use this as my way back and I don't like riding the same stretch twice. #Scotland#cycling
We spontaneously decided to hop off the West Highland Line train at #FortWilliam for a walk, a picnic lunch, and a pint before continuing on to Mallaig. Good call!

Visited #FortWilliam in #Scotland yesterday and found this abandoned boat on the shore of Loch Linnhe. Apparently it is called "the Old Boat of Caol". 1/2

Inverlochy Castle near Fort William. Built from around 1280 it was overtaken by history not once, but twice: first by a Cromwellian citadel built in 1654 and then by a Scots baronial style Inverlochy Castle built not far away in 1863.
