dandelion<p>The New-England Aster (Symphyotrichum novae-angliae) is the most iconic of the American Asters and a garden favorite around the world. There are over 100 species and hybrids in this genus though, typically with many small white, blue, or purple flowers. In our little wetland, they are just now starting to take over the late season bloom from the sunflowers, bonesets, and goldenrods.<br><a href="https://dresden.network/tags/Florespendence" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Florespendence</span></a> <a href="https://dresden.network/tags/FloweringFriday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FloweringFriday</span></a> <a href="https://dresden.network/tags/NativePlants" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NativePlants</span></a> <a href="https://dresden.network/tags/Wetlands" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Wetlands</span></a></p>
handmade ghost<p>Here is the full text of Glück's poem, "The Wild Iris" (it was too long to include with the previous post). </p><p>One of my favorite books of <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/poetry" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>poetry</span></a> is Glück's Pullitzer-winning collection (also called The Wild Iris)--a "book of hours" written through flowers--and there are, for me, a host of different flowers that bring its poems to mind every time I see them. Anyway, mood. 2/2</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/Poetry" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Poetry</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/Florespendence" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Florespendence</span></a></p>

This plant was bought last year. It looked magnificent with its bright red flowers...
But, come the autumn/winter-time, it struggled. It lost almost all of its leaves and looked as though it was ready to die.
But, somehow, with just 3 tiniest leaves, it pulled through.
And then, one day not so long ago, new leaves started to grow.
And then we had a few days of sunshine and it took off. All of a sudden, a flower bloomed.

The nice thing about being devoid of any plant knowledge is getting to be surprised by sudden flowers on shrubs.
Overnight some of the hedge plants grew tiny white flowers smelling delicious, so *so* good. Wonderful surprise.
I don't know what they are, but they are little drops of heaven to me.

Will post a photo later, it's raining now and I'm sitting in the shed with the door open, and coffee.
