Site famously occupied by #NativeAmerican protesters in early 70s, where many still hold sunrise #Thanksgiving ceremonies on the island, whose abandoned bldgs were turned into a #NationalPark that opened in 1974.

The rocky island has since become a major regional #tourism attraction, hosting over a million visitors a year who arrive via officially chartered ferry boats sent from near #FishermansWharf . The Crab Fleet

The crab fleet of Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. Behind the restaurants off of Jefferson Street is the pier where the crab fleet docks. Most folks don't even walk back here, they just walk down the street looking for cheap trinkets and some fresh crab.
Back here behind the restaurants and the gift shop are where the boats dock after a long days work.

The colorful boats are part of the fleet of boats that bring fresh seafood to San Francisco's world-renowned Fisherman's Wharf.
Jefferson Street is the street where most of the shops are. But if you go behind the restaurants and walk along the bay you will see these boats docked as long as they are not out fishing.
