I JUST HEARD THIS:

#DementiaDon the #FascistInChief wants to declare (the nonexistent) #AntiFa a "𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧" b/c it gives him almost unlimited power to use THE MILITARY to go after (read: assassinate) "them" (read: anyone who calls him a #Fascist / #Nazi.)

What "country" is AntiFa from? They don't say. How did they enter the U.S.? They don't say. Who is their leader? They don't say. 🤦‍♂️

THE most insane end-run around the #FirstAmendment imaginable.

#California, the nation’s largest Democratic-led state, has passed a #law restricting what #teachers can say in the classroom, & has walked back an effort to require high school students to take classes in ethnic studies.

…these developments have also set off alarms among #FreeSpeech advocates, as the #Trump admin pushes to punish speech it dislikes & to impose its patriotic vision of #US #history on #schools.

Amen to Brandi Carlile’s statements

On “Church and State,” @ 29:14 in #NPR World Cafe video interview:
“The separation of #church and state is absolutely essential. I say that as a person of #faith and as a person who has to [needs to] live in a #democracy.”

And, @ 29:32 , on including quote from Thomas Jefferson’s Letter to the Danbury Baptists from 1802: “Those crossover moments are the ones that we really need to look for."

@GGMcBG @georgetakei It gets better at the #Pentagon

As major news outlets abandon the Pentagon press corpse, "...numerous right-wing, pro-Trump online outlets said they were among those that had agreed to the rules, including The Gateway Pundit; Human Events; LindellTV; Frontlines, an arm of Turning Point USA; and The National Pulse."

Former Tennessee law enforcement officer Larry Bushart Jr., 61, was arrested after sharing memes—including one mocking the death of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk—on Facebook. Bushart, a retired police officer known locally for his liberal views and outspoken criticism of Donald Trump, posted over 100 memes in one day, some targeting Trump and his supporters, in the wake of Kirk’s killing. His posts—many in a local Facebook group—caught the attention of Perry County Sheriff Nick Weems, who initiated the investigation. One meme using Trump’s actual quote after a school shooting (“We have to get over it”) was cited as particularly relevant. Police visited and soon after, Bushart’s life was upended, highlighting escalating tensions during Trump’s second term. Curious about the aftermath and what this means for digital speech? We need a DoorDash boycott as strong as the one for Target.
To protect the right to be safe at our work. We should withhold our labor & money from places like that. Redirect that $ to workers legal costs. Help those willing to fight back. Women are silenced with violence incl. financial since forever.
Abuse of women is main subjugation & infrastructure of fascism. It pushes women out of careers & workforce, especially ones they excel at. #metoo

The #UniversityOfVirginia, facing immense pressure from the White House, struck a deal with the #Trump admin on Wednesday that removed, at least temporarily, the threat of a federal *investigation*.

The #DOJ announced the deal. It was the first time a public #university had cut a far-reaching agreement with the Trump admin, which is carrying out an extraordinary campaign to shift the ideological tilt of the higher #education system.

In October 2024, CCIA, with its co-Plaintiff @NetChoice, filed a lawsuit against the State of Florida, explaining that Florida HB3, the “internet rationing” law, violates the #FirstAmendment and other federal laws by blocking and restricting minors—and likely adults as well—from using certain, targeted websites to view lawful content. 1/2

"They're saying, 'oh, they're paid protesters.’ Bull****. I see peaceful protesters. They're saying, 'this will be violent.’ Bull****. I see expression of our #FirstAmendment, freedom of expression. They say, 'this will be a day of hate.’ Bull**** I say. What I see are #patriots who love this country.”— U.S. Rep. Jimmy Panetta of Carmel Valley, just in from Washington, D.C.

"A federal judge today issued a preliminary injunction blocking the University of Texas System from enforcing a new Texas law that bans virtually all protected expression on public university campuses after dark.

In his ruling, Judge David Alan Ezra of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas found that students challenging the law on First Amendment grounds were likely to succeed on the merits, and blocked the law from going into effect while the case makes its way through the courts.

“The First Amendment does not have a bedtime of 10:00 p.m.,” the district court held. “The burden is on the government to prove that its actions are narrowly tailored to achieve a compelling governmental interest. It has not done so.”

“Today’s ruling is a victory not only for our plaintiffs, but all of those who express themselves on college campuses across Texas,” said FIRE Senior Supervising Attorney JT Morris. “The First Amendment protects their freedom of speech on campus, every hour of the day, every week of the year.”""
