"Trumpets Up" teableau for 05/21/25

I love interesting trinket boxes. This little elephant trio is one of my favorites.

Tea tableau in yellow, blue, and bright green, centering around a small ceramic figural trinket box in the shape of three seated grey elephants raising their heads. There is a vintage Fiestaware cup and saucer, and enameled copper miniature Kelvin Chen teapot, and antique saucer, and floral tea cozy, all on a blue crochet doily atop a yellow quilted runner.

"Peachy-keen Kittens" teableau for 05/16/25

Of bagged teas, Brewix is still my favorite Peach black tea, but Stash is quite nice.

Tea tableau of playful ceramic kittens from the 1940s and 1970s, and a cat shaped Aynsley China creamer. There is vintage white china with blue Wedgwood styling, and a kitten patterned tea cozy. The tea is Stash peach black tea.

"National Frog Jumping Day" teableau for 05/13/25

Tea tableau in white and green with a frog theme. There are a ceramic frog on a lily pad, a bisque porcelain frog with a sprig of greenery, and a rock with a frog painted on it, as well as vintage cup and saucer, a Portmeirion cream pitcher, an embroidered tea cozy, and embroidered satin tea cloth. The tea selection is Berry black loose leaf tea. There is also a flat, translucent, green carved stone in a heart shape.

Tea tableau on a green ground with a white cloth appliqued with a lavender gingham tulip. Upon this are a vintage cup and saucer set patterned with a row of pastel tulips. Beside it are a handpainted purple rock with pink tulips, a tin of Vanilla Almond black tea, a powder blue teapot, and an iridescent purple spoon shaped like a flower. Behind them is a wooden sculpture of bright tulips in red, yellow, and blue, and a small Delft figurine of a little Dutch girl rests on the base.

These real linens are from an old upholsterer's sample book. It was an undertaking to get the very long iron staples out of the binding, and a real chore to remove the gluey- tape that further attached the fabric pages. Worth it, though.

"Morning Song" teableau for 04/23/25

Because the dark must always end.

Simple tea tableau with vintage china covered in a design of tiny bouquets of roses, violets, Forget-Me-Nots, and pansies, with a matching napkin. The cup and saucer sit in the middle of a wreath of appliqued tulips on a white cloth. There is a yellow ceramic bird raising its beak in song. The small teapot is light green with yellow handles and spout and orange knob and turquoise feet; it is covered in delicate black text in various fonts using words that end with t, e, a, as puns such as affinitea, hospitalitea, generositea, creativitea, prosperitea, and so on. The tea today is Tippy Yunnan black loose leaf from Harney and Sons.
