@Heidentweet : it's not just Ben Gvir.

In November 2024 groups of Maccabi Tel Aviv hooligans were shouting in the streets of Amsterdam:
• "Death to all Arabs"
• "No more schools needed in Gaza because all kids are dead"
• "Fuck the Palestinians"
etcetera.

None of them were arrested.

Dutch people, mostly with Arab roots, were heavily offended. What followed was called pogroms and antisemitism. A number of the Dutch people were prosecuted and convicted.

Two weeks ago the Dutch press revealed that video-recordings from Maccabi hooligan misbehavior were lost (in Dutch: nos.nl/artikel/2571238-ov-beel) - rendering prosecution of most Maccabi hooligans impossible (as if there were no witnesses).

Whether you're allowed to say "Death to" depends on who you are and what comes next.

A quotation from Franklin Roosevelt

We must scrupulously guard the civil rights and civil liberties of all citizens, whatever their background. We must remember that any oppression, any injustice, any hatred, is a wedge designed to attack our civilization.

A quotation from Molly Ivins

In my opinion, there’s not a thing wrong with the ideals and mechanisms outlined and the liberties set forth in the Constitution of the United States. The only problem was, the founders left a lot of people out of the Constitution. They left out poor people and black people and female people. It is possible to read the history of this country as one long struggle to extend the liberties established in our Constitution to everyone in America. And it still goes on today.
