1001 Other Albums<p>The next album SpaceAce submitted to this project – and the 100th (!) album we are spotlighting – is number 1029 in <a href="https://1001otheralbums.com/the-list/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The List</a>.</p><p>I would’ve loved to hear why SpaceAce picked this particular album, given the history of the band. Prior to forming this electropop duo, Elli Medeiros and Denis Quilliard (a.k.a. Jacno) were both in what is credited as France’s first punk band, <a href="https://www.discogs.com/artist/118031-Stinky-Toys" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Stinky Toys</a>, with Elli on vocals and Jacno on rhythm guitar. Interestingly, all the lyrics were in English, possibly as Elli, originally from Uruguay, spoke English as her second language (Spanish as her first). Stinky Toys released only two albums (both self-titled), in <a href="https://album.link/ca/i/1443800948" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">1977</a> and <a href="https://album.link/ca/i/441252440" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">1979</a>, but apparently left an impression on such people as Andy Warhol, Malcolm McLaren, and Blondie.1</p><p>Once Stinky Toys broke up, Jacno released his first solo album in 1979, a minimal, ambient pre-electro <a href="https://album.link/ca/i/420742035" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">self-titled album</a>, featuring Elli on one of the songs. Soon after, as a duo, Elli & Jacno put out three albums, starting with the one we’re looking at here.
