Sarah Wilson<p>Hey, I'm Sarah but I also go by FaeMittens online, and this is my <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/introduction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>introduction</span></a>. ☺️ </p><p>I'm a queer <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/transgender" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>transgender</span></a> woman in my early 30's currently living in northern Lutruwita/Tasmania and hoping to make my way over to Naarm/Melbourne with my awesome (also <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/trans" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>trans</span></a>) girlfriend soon.</p><p>I write code to command <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/electronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>electronics</span></a> to do things for a living, mostly on bare metal ARM in C but occasionally running Linux in C, C++, or Python; but I'm currently out of work and working on my mental health and transition (burnout sucks).</p><p><a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/Photography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Photography</span></a> is how I express myself but I've also considered dabbling in <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/gamedev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gamedev</span></a>, if I could just stick to a single idea. 😅 I also love to play games, read, listen to music of many different genres, and learn; I'm nerdy as hell and enjoy diving into different technical, scientific, and math topics when my <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/adhd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>adhd</span></a> sparks a focus. Hierzu gibt es super Schritt-für-Schritt Anleitungen online (<span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@iFixit" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>iFixit</span></a></span>). Nach dem Tausch hält der Akku bedeutend länger und die Lebensdauer des Gerätes wurde damit signifikant erhöht!</p><p>The cell phone battery is dying, the device doesn't even last until the afternoon with normal use. Replacing the battery is doable with a little skill and the right tools. There are great step-by-step instructions online. After the replacement, the battery lasts much longer again and the lifespan of the device has been significantly increased!</p><p><a href="https://derreparierer.codeberg.page/derreparierer/smartphones/battery_apple_iphone_xs/readme.html" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">derreparierer.codeberg.page/de</span><span class="invisible">rreparierer/smartphones/battery_apple_iphone_xs/readme.html</span></a></p><p><a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/repair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>repair</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/reparatur" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>reparatur</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/electronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>electronics</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/smartphone" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>smartphone</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/iphone" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>iphone</span></a></p>
Piotr Esden-Tempski<p>So one thing led to another and I am back to being the maintainer of libopencm3. Thanks karlp for all the years of dedication. I will do my best to take care of locm3 well. tjhowse<p>I'm thinking of ideas for a major revision of my long-lived morse code solar blinkers.</p><p>I want to make a version that is easier to read, displaying whole letters rather than morse.</p><p>Legible 5px high fonts exist, but I'm not sure of the minimum horizontal resolution. 5px would let me show a whole character, but I think I can go lower with marquee scrolling.</p><p>Also I want an i2c EEPROM for longer messages.</p><p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnEo65a7JRA" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/watch?v=nnEo65a7JR</span><span class="invisible">A</span></a></p><p><a href="https://howse.social/tags/electronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>electronics</span></a> <a href="https://howse.social/tags/numenera" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>numenera</span></a> <a href="https://howse.social/tags/pcbway" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pcbway</span></a></p>
Gus<p>Do I know any Australian <a href="https://aus.social/tags/electronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>electronics</span></a> nerds who could use a small IR reflow oven? Yours for cost of postage.</p><p>This is a Qinsi QS-5100, purchased in 2013. Used only a few times, and probably not for ten years. I just fired it up and the heating element, fan, etc. all seem to work as expected - but it could use a thorough test at minimum.</p><p>A lot was written about these ovens back in the day, particularly by Ian of Dangerous Prototypes.</p><p>If, like me, you only assemble boards in ones and twos for prototypes then TBH you probably don't need this (I use hot air and a preheater). If you do frequent small assembly runs and can be bothered dialling the temp curves in (in theory a one-time process) then it may be of interest.</p>

Jer 🚵🏼<p>Before bike trip I was thinking I should 3d print a case and kludge together some kind of light for the front of the bike with spare LEDs and parts I have. Within the first five miles I found one on the side of the road! It had been run over, which squished the battery, but otherwise works fine.<br>I saw a number of discarded vapes on the ride and momentarily thought about grabbing a couple to harvest their batteries, but didn't want to deal with carrying them in limited pack space. <br><a href="https://techhub.social/tags/electronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>electronics</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/BikeTooter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BikeTooter</span></a></p>
