Chris SikkengaCopper rod. Left end was where my wire was connected outside the bath. The right side is what is left after the rod donated copper to the jewellery. <br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/electroforming?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#electroforming</a>
Chris SikkengaFirst photo-- a single earring and a pendant drying after receiving a clear coat to protect the copper.<br> <br> Second photo-- Earrings from beach glass and a few pendants drying with a coat of paint. The pendants needed some touchups after I cleaned up the copper. The earrings are all receiving a first coat so the copper in the bath will adhere to them.<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/electroforming?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#electroforming</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/handmadejewelry?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#handmadejewelry</a>
Chris Sikkenga1) Some pendants ready for a protective coat to protect the copper.<br> 2) Earrings. One almost finished, the other still covered in the latex that protected the stone in the bath.<br> 3) First ring experiment. The stone was meh, so I wrapped it with wire, gave that a coat of conductive paint and learned a lot. <br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/electroforming?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#electroforming</a>
Chris SikkengaProtective coat applied so the newly formed does not tarnish.<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/electroforming?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#electroforming</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/rockhound?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#rockhound</a>
Chris SikkengaThings were getting crunchy. So I gave the bath, a bath.<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/electroforming?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#electroforming</a>
Chris SikkengaWhen I started <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/electroforming?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#electroforming</a> again, I had to replace my anode, the piece of copper donating the metal.<br> <br> It started out as a copper pipe pounded flat. The section on the left is the portion that was above the solution with the wire attached. On the right is what is left after making several pieces.
Chris SikkengaCovered these potential earrings with some latex. This will protect the rocks from the copper bath.<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/electroforming?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#electroforming</a>
Chris SikkengaCleaning up the copper. New recipe of conductive paint seems successful.<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/electroforming?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#electroforming</a>
Chris SikkengaI am trying a new paint recipe since I kept having issues with conductivity. <br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/electroforming?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#electroforming</a>
Chris SikkengaA few kids almost ready for a dip in the pool.<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/rockhound?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#rockhound</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/electroforming?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#electroforming</a>
Chris SikkengaBeach glass pendant. I am still figuring out <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/electroforming?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#electroforming</a> with copper. I think many people in the craft enjoy the raw look because it is difficult to grind out the unwanted bits. 😅<br> <br> Maybe that is my excuse because I am working with such small pieces.<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/rockhound?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#rockhound</a>
Chris SikkengaTaking longer than expected. It has been in over 24hrs. I guess I should check my math. OR I bet my copper anode (water line from Home Depot) isn't 100% copper.<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/electroforming?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#electroforming</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/rocktumbling?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#rocktumbling</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/rockhound?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#rockhound</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/jewelrydesign?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#jewelrydesign</a>
Chris SikkengaTest no.3 looks alright. Will I become a copper Baron?<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/electroforming?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#electroforming</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/rockhound?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#rockhound</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/ArtTherapy?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#ArtTherapy</a>
Chris SikkengaFinally got the <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/electroforming?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#electroforming</a> bath and gear setup. Going to run a few tests before I start doing the rocks.
