Reading the The Simile of the Saw in the Buddhist Majjhima Nikāya.

Made me realize the mainstream Internet can be an interesting way to practice being unaffected by harsh words, gossip, distraction and other triggers.

AND also being equally unaffected by messages I would agree with or overly identify with.

Avoiding and blocking noise is one thing but can I stand amongst the noise and remain composed?

How much capacity for distraction do I still retain?

My son texted me about new Epstein info coming out, and I feel like this is something to change the conversation about the

Nothing beats a ‘good’ war to distract the masses.

The Falklands ‘conflict’ - despite being encouraged by Thatcher’s actions has been reported as being her salvation.

Trump, thick though he may be has some advisors who have been taking lessons. ‘Never mind our democracy, feel the quality of our killing (poor brown people in preference)’

And the media ‘pretend' to fall for it every fucking time, wetting themselves.

A quotation from La Rochefoucauld

One of the reasons why there are so few reasonable and pleasant conversationalists is that almost everyone concentrates on what he wishes to say, rather than attempting to give accurate and clear replies to what is said to him.

I was the household’s unofficial keeper of that musical treasure, probably the only one with the patience and fascination to work through the whole process. I was experiencing music the way people did in the 1890s and early 1900s - as something precious that required effort and attention, not just background noise. Those repeated listenings probably shaped how I hear and appreciate music even now.
