Speaking of Airborne Toxic Events, the only thing #deLillo got wrong in the novel from which I've borrowed the phrase ('White Noise') is that instead of a single region it's an entire continent that's involved, and ultimately, the globe itself.

These #paperbacks arrived today! They're both about #time in #USliterature. My monograph starts w/#CharlesBrockdenBrown and ends w/#EdwardP.Jones. W/chapters in between on #Poe, #ElizabethStuartPhelps, and #Dreiser. A different through-line, to be sure. The #edited volume has outstanding chapters by many of the best #literarycritics. #Looby on #Tucker's The Partisan Leader, #Goble on #DeLillo, #Spires on #Black serial fiction, #Hale on #Faulkner. And more. Cost w/CUP discount, ~23.00 each.

I was pleasantly not disppointed by the #film adaptation of White Noise. This, in spite of it being kinda quirky & charming. Which...isn't really my take on #DeLillo, in general.

Gonna have to go back and rewatch Cosmopolis now. My memory of it was it being somewhat 'meh'. But apparently I rated it 4 out of 5 stars at the time. Hrmph. Perhaps Cronenberg tricked me. Or gave me brain-worms. #movies

'The self-referential media mash of #DeLillo's world, where brand names become a mantra (the working title for White Noise was Panasonic, but he was refused permission to use it), makes perfect sense in the 21st Century, where our experiences are endlessly processed, photographed, commented on, reshaped and shared.'
