It is now the tallest tree in my yard.

The oldest grove of metasequoia were planted here around 1950. The trunks get massive, resembling a bald cypress, minus the knuckles. Dawn redwoods do not have knuckle-like root protrusions surrounding their base.

HI unexpectedly found a beautiful dawn redwood tree growing randomly in a small Alameda city park. Dawn redwoods are very rare and special trees, at least here in the eastern Bay Area.
