Who doesn't love a new baby in the office!?

I love it, personally. I will *never* give up an opportunity to coo at, make faces at, and/or cuddle a baby.

But quite a lot of childless people find it really upsetting. And you probably wouldn't know if one of your colleagues was having a miscarriage right now, or struggling with fertility etc. They don't hate babies. They don't hate joy. They don't want to cry at work or have to explain to all their colleagues about child death, or their feelings of failure, or their heartbreak.

If you manage people without children, and you know you're having a staff member bring their new baby in, it would be good to give people a heads up, so they can opt out, or better yet, ask the parent bringing the baby in to stay in an area and let people come to them, instead of going desk to desk.

Just in case there are any gynaecologist practice managers on here (unlikely), I'd like to express a wish.

Please, please, please, if you have space, separate your pre and post natal patients from your infertility, non-obstetric, and childless patients.

Or at least balance up the info posters a little, so at least a few are about childlessness. Even just a gonorhea poster would be welcomed.

The usual waiting rooms are packed with babies, pregnant people, posters about breastfeeding, and happy smiling baby faces everywhere.

I find it a tiny bit upsetting even now, but I can't imagine how it must be for someone actively miscarrying, reaching the end of an unsuccessful fertility journey, or who lost a child or children, where it's all so raw.

I'm not expecting a world without pregnant people, but maybe a tiny acknowledgement that women's and gynaecological health isn't only about babies, would be great. We're ~20%.

I wouldn't usually post things from linked in here, but a childless friend shared this with me and I appreciated it.

Before you rush to assume that all childless people have an easy, chosen, blissfully ignorant life, take a minute the consider that maybe just because that was *your* life *before* children, it doesn't mean that's the reality for others.

Also, lots of childless people know what it's like to be responsible for children (carers, parentified siblings, bereaved parents, foster carers, childcare workers, nannies etc).

I'm happy to give grace to parents doing it tough, but this sort of self-obsessed other shaming pisses me off.

Our VP-elect J D Vance apparently got the Russian propaganda memo about starting a war on people with no kids.

The thing I don’t get is that in the recent past human overpopulation was thought to be a danger to earth due to its limited resources. China even made having more than one kid illegal. Yet now certain politicians regard people not having kids as a threat.

I'm allergic to myself apparently. I got the period flu in full force, because my body is overwhelmed. So, flu symptoms on top of period pain.

I have another appointment to beg for a hysterectomy in a month. During the last one, the dude declared that I "hadn't fulfilled my responsibility to society yet" (i.e. bearing children) and then wrote a letter that I got "hysteric" for demanding someone do something to help me.
