considerate<p>I just got back from a trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness with my family. We stayed at Voyageur Canoe Outfitters just north of Seagull Lake. My son and I took a day trip into Seagull and a large loop route starting from a tow to the Red Rock portage. This part of the BWCAW was an area I guided long ago. Paws2TrailThe whole photo from which our account icon is taken. This is from our last vacation with Gypsy, the nearly all-white husky on the right, in February 2024. She was just short of 14 years old at the time, and to our surprise, managed the 3 mile round trip to this rock and back. She turned 14 the week after we returned from vacation, and eventually passed on May 15, after a long life full of adventures!<br>

This is the Magnetic Rock, near the border between USA and Canada near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness of Minnesota. Its name comes from the amount of iron in the rock, a glacial erratic turned on its side and towering over the landscape, which deflects compass needles when they're brought close enough. It stands in a forest regenerating from the Ham Lake fire in 2007.<br>

Bryan Hansel<p>The brand new Sea to Summit 50L Big River Dry Backpack just arrived as a review sample. </p><p>I promptly loaded all my camping gear including a BearVault BV500 Journey Bear Canister, which easily fits 10 days of food for a solo paddler with the right packing. It all fits fine with a terrible packing job. </p><p>The pack weighs just 1lb 10oz.
