You don’t need 500 Hebrew words to start speaking…

But you do need this one:

“I’m busy.”

Because let’s be real — whether you’re dodging plans, overwhelmed with life, or just trying to get things done with less interruptions...

"I'm busy" is all you need to say.

It’s one of those simple phrases that instantly makes you sound more natural, more local, and more in control of your conversations.

✔️ Want to politely say “Not now”?

✔️ Let someone know you’ll get back to them?

✔️ Sound like you’re actually using Hebrew in real life?

Start with “I’m busy.”

Because let’s face it… you probably are 😅

Stressed Out

Yesterday I was a bundle of stressed out, frayed nerves because the morning commute was such a disaster it spoiled my brain for the whole day. Today I am a bundle of stressed out, frayed nerves because of all the meetings I have to go to today. I am flat out all day long. I’m kinda scared for my stomach. It took me a full week to recover from our trip to Florida* and further along than that, yesterday was the first day since that I almost went the whole day without any problems (almost) and now today I am in meetings all day and may not be able to stop for lunch. I am at risk of a bad stomach day.**

*Florida will henceforth be known as MoonPieTown due to this post.

**I am referring to post-gastric bypass side effects and various related issues. Food/diet/digestion-wise I need to be a creature of habit and routine to succeed without weird problems and I am going to get bounced out of my routine today. I’m not happy about it, but what can you do?

Bluesky SocialBluesky
One of my New Year's resolutions is to take a lot more black-and-white character portraits (which I adjust in the "Dramatic Black & White" phone app), then post them here at Pixelfed (and repost to mastodon.social/@jasonpettus). The kitchen of our 20-person co-op is just like a cafe, in that most of the people in the house during the day tend to congregate in the kitchen between 11 and 12, to all make lunch at around the same time. It can be annoying if you let it, but this happy chaos is also one of the big reasons to live in a co-op in the first place, because the house's common spaces are always lively and active. There are people in our kitchen literally from 7 in the morning to 2 o'clock the next morning, as first the early birds take over the space, then the lunch crowd, then the WFHers, then all of us for dinner, the majority of whom then hang around for gaming, drinking or discussions, then finally capped by the younger people just getting back from their late-night revelries.
