#PortlandME - East Bayside Trail Fest

June 22 @ 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

"On Sunday, June 22nd, support #PortlandTrails and the Bicycle Coalition of Maine at this first annual, one-of-a-kind event in the heart of the East Bayside neighborhood. A collaboration between nonprofit organizations and local businesses, the East Bayside Trail Fest consists of three events:

- Trail to Ale 10K – that’s right, this beloved race is BACK!
- Bayside Ride – a scenic 15- or 30-mile non-competitive group ride
- Trail Mix 2-Miler – a fun run and walk ideal for families, new trail users, and beginner runners

The events will be staggered throughout the morning and will culminate in a #BlockParty on Diamond Street featuring music, food trucks, local beer, cider, and spirits, and more!"

Today, French professional cyclist Romain Bardet crossed a finish line for the last time and started his retirement.

For many years, fans across the world, particularly here in the UK, looked forward to the days when Romain won a stage of the Tour de France. Not just for the joy and panache, but also because the broadcaster #ITV4 would end its highlights programme with a certain piece of music to accompany the credits.

Let's image today was a stage of the Tour and not the #Dauphiné. Let's also imagine that Romain won and enjoy the music one last time.

I arrived to Frankfurt without delays 🥳 Since I had some time for my train to Paris, and there were some nextbike bikes to rent, I went off to do some sight/infra-seeing. Unfortunately I must say Frankfurt is now pretty low on my list of cyclable cities 😥 9/n

I spent a wonderful day outdoors with island hopping in Stockholm's Archipelago, Sweden. Temperatures were up to a crazy 29° Celsius. Boat&Brompton touring on a lovely day is the ultimate pleasure here in Stockholm. One can sit on the deck of the boat and get all the breeze. Some boats serve drinks, and if you are early enough, you might even get a breakfast coffee free of charge. On the islands, you can bicycle next to the sea passing by plenty of beaches.

I had friends over since Friday, so wasn't able to ride. When they left, I checked the forecast (heavy thunderstorms) and decided that I would be able to make it up an back down the Blauen in time.
All went well on the way up, and there were a lot of lovely wild strawberries. #eBike #AfternoonRide #BikeTooter

It's too early for YouTube. But I am thinking about a video I saw the other day. Guy used some kind of blowtorch - maybe one of those ones they have for welding - to basically melt a bottom bracket out of a shell. I don't know if that damaged the threads, but it probably did. He probably redid them off camera.

I really want to try and save Rusty. But I am running out of options.

They're fancy pedals, SimWorks Bubbly. But not so nice if you strike the ground, and you've got to bend them back using plumber's pliers.

I sometimes have the feeling SimWorks lets renowned companies (MKS, Nitto) make stuff that wouldn't meet the quality criteria of those companies to sell themselves.
