Much of the #Superman movie #ManOfSteel was filmed near me, when the small town of #Plano #Illinois was remade to become #Smallville . This window at the Plano Methodist Church was used in the scene where #ClarkKent ( #HenryCavill ) is talking to a preacher about sacrificing himself in order to save the world from Zod.

This #StainedGlass #window was used as background symbolism in that scene, because it depicts Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, before sacrificing himself on the cross for all mankind (Matthew 26:36-46).

Every year, the town of Plano hosts a Superman Celebration, and visitors can see some of the places where scenes were filmed. I was also fortunate enough to visit when the set was days away from production, and see everything that had been done to the town in preparation. (I will post those images sometime later.)

@rightardia The Epic of Gilgamesh and the Bible have fascinating parallels, especially the flood story. In Gilgamesh (written around 2100 BCE), Utnapishtim is warned by the gods to build a boat and save animals from a massive flood, just like Noah in the Bible’s Genesis (written around 500–600 BCE). Both stories feature a divine warning, an ark, and a great flood. But while the Bible presents a monotheistic view, Gilgamesh involves multiple gods.

Don't read the story of David and Goliath from the perspective of David. Read it from the perspective of the people of Israel. Their armies are useless; their future now hangs on single combat.

If a champion can be found to go up against Goliath, they stand a chance: if Goliath can be killed, they all win. But if that champion fails, they all lose; they all go back into slavery. Will anyone step forward? Is there anyone who dares stand against the monster?

Just one young man who can't wear armor and doesn't carry a sword. This looks bleak. What chance does he have? No one expects him to prevail.

His entire nation's fate hangs in the balance.

I don't agree with the notion that LLMs are "just auto-complete on steroids." I also don't think they are an emergent AI or any of the other sci-fi leaps that some others are claiming.

I will say that they are an interesting application of math and, in the current form, a very fun toy to play with.

Now, with that preamble out of the way... I'm very tickled that I was able to prompt the following output from GPT4. (Attached images/captions)

🤣 There's a lot to upack there...

Lot boinked his daughters, too.

Well, technically, his daughters got him drunk, and boinked him.

I'm not sure if this was before or after he gave them (his daughters) to the townspeople so they (the townspeople) wouldn't rape the holy men who were visiting Lot.

But, knowing how alcohol effects my own penis, I'm reasonably certain he woulda been cognizant of daughter dearest applying ministrations.

I’ve been listening to an audiobook of The Book of Enoch. I grew up in an apocalyptic cult, and I am so miffed that this book was removed from the Bible. This is some amazing shit! I’d have loved reading this as a kid. It sure beats the begat section. I wonder why it became apocryphal? The further adventures of Noah and all those wacky angel shenanigans a#make for wild tales. #folklore #mythology #apocrypha #angels #BookOfEnoch #Bible #BibleStories
