"Join me--won't you?--while I regale my family with the charming story in #2Kings 2:23-24, wherein the #Lord sicced a pair of voracious bears on 42 #kids. Glory! "

@rightardia The Epic of Gilgamesh and the Bible have fascinating parallels, especially the flood story. In Gilgamesh (written around 2100 BCE), Utnapishtim is warned by the gods to build a boat and save animals from a massive flood, just like Noah in the Bible’s Genesis (written around 500–600 BCE). Both stories feature a divine warning, an ark, and a great flood. But while the Bible presents a monotheistic view, Gilgamesh involves multiple gods.
Don't read the story of David and Goliath from the perspective of David. Read it from the perspective of the people of Israel. Their armies are useless; their future now hangs on single combat.
If a champion can be found to go up against Goliath, they stand a chance: if Goliath can be killed, they all win. But if that champion fails, they all lose; they all go back into slavery. Will anyone step forward? Is there anyone who dares stand against the monster?
Just one young man who can't wear armor and doesn't carry a sword. This looks bleak. What chance does he have? No one expects him to prevail.
His entire nation's fate hangs in the balance.
Pious Speaker of the House Mike Johnson agrees with Donald T**** that T**** should not have been tried for illegally covering up his payment to a porn star with whom he committed adultery.

I don't agree with the notion that LLMs are "just auto-complete on steroids." I also don't think they are an emergent AI or any of the other sci-fi leaps that some others are claiming.
I will say that they are an interesting application of math and, in the current form, a very fun toy to play with.
Now, with that preamble out of the way... I'm very tickled that I was able to prompt the following output from GPT4. (Attached images/captions)
@ralph @Lats @notroot @lednabwm @Npars01 There's a lot to upack there...
Lot boinked his daughters, too.
Well, technically, his daughters got him drunk, and boinked him.
I'm not sure if this was before or after he gave them (his daughters) to the townspeople so they (the townspeople) wouldn't rape the holy men who were visiting Lot.
But, knowing how alcohol effects my own penis, I'm reasonably certain he woulda been cognizant of daughter dearest applying ministrations.

I imagine bible stories on Reddit would look like this:
AITAH:
What do I do? I unalived my brother because our boss liked his work more than mine. I always felt dejected despite me putting in the effort.
Now my boss wants me to go away and not come back.
Na stands for #Natrium; #NaCl is called Natrium Chloride here.
In the USA NaCl is called Sodium Chloride. I always wondered why.
I suspect that Lot's wife is to blame for this. She looked behind her at Sodom and was turned into a pillar of salt, hence Sodium Chloride.
Thanks a Lot's wife, for creating this confusion!
Finished the novel The Secret Chord (2015) by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Geraldine Brooks - The story of biblical King David told from the point of view of the prophet Nathan.
Certainly a page turner …
When I was a Jehovah’s Witness kid, I learned that God flooded the entire world in order to punish the Nephilim for being bullies and stealing everyone’s food. I wondered why God punished the people whose food was stolen, too. I wasn’t allowed to ask such questions then. #exJW #Nephilim #BibleStories

How has your vision of your MC changed since you wrote the first page?
When I initially planned to write this book, it bore no similarity whatsoever to what it has since become. That includes the MC. Originally, my protagonists were Nebuchadnezzar and a woman named Sophie. Neither appear in my manuscript. Maybe they’ll show up in other books. #mythology #BibleStories #AmWriting #WritingProcess
I’ve been listening to an audiobook of The Book of Enoch. I grew up in an apocalyptic cult, and I am so miffed that this book was removed from the Bible. This is some amazing shit! I’d have loved reading this as a kid. It sure beats the begat section. I wonder why it became apocryphal? The further adventures of Noah and all those wacky angel shenanigans a#make for wild tales. #folklore #mythology #apocrypha #angels #BookOfEnoch #Bible #BibleStories
