Found this thing on Aliexpress. I assume it's crap, but what it CLAIMS it is is a portable linux-based HDD game console.

In other words someone took a hdd, put #batocera #linux on and a cheap enclosure around it, added a leaflet and a cable... and sent it in the packaging of the enclosure.

I am curious how big the hard drive actually is, considering one of the only things the leaflet actually does is show how to check the size of it.
Why would you even show that?

Screen recording stressed the hardware a bit, so it is a bit chunky, but if I'm not recording, it works perfectly. All set in 30 minutes during lunch time :)

Batocera's x86_64 image boots straight into it like a live disk, not an installer.

Okay...fine, but when I go to the install option inside it insists on internet to...download the image?

Well I guess it doesn't know or have access to whatever it's booted from. Could have just asked me but whatever.

Tries to download the image - insufficient disk space cause it's booted like a live CD.

No terminal access to mount tools or any "select location" option.

???

So, I've been fiddling with a #Batocera based emulation station for the kids, the last couple of weeks. It's really neat, all the classic roms you can think of, combined with quality gamepads from 8bitdo.

The Batocera is fully capable of running games for The Nintendo #Switch, with some minor tweaks.

I finally took it a bit further and acquired a used #Nintendo Switch Light for ≈€120, complete with the #Picofly #Jailbreak. Lot's of shady Java-tools involved for uploading #roms, but hey - so far, so good!

Continua la mia avventura nel mondo del Software Libero.

La consolina #Batocera si sta rivelando piena di sorprese nel poco tempo che riesco a dedicarle.

Riesce a emulare anche giochi WiiU senza difficoltà.

Le difficoltà di spazio e tecniche di tenere attive tutte le mie vecchie console sono sparite. Ora loro si godono la meritata pensione in esposizione mentre Batocera mantiene in vita le loro gesta senza difficoltà e con tanti vantaggi tecnici derivati dall'emulazione.
