Weekend tinkering: build an absolutely non-THX-certified #Dolby #Atmos 7.1.4 setup with nothing but the Music app, Audio Midi Setup (AMS) and a bunch of disparate DACs, amps and speakers all handling some of the 12 channels. The relative magic here is that AMS will do the appropriate Atmos decoding which allows mapping of 5.1.2 or 7.1.4 channels to output devices of choice, grouped in an arbitrary aggregate virtual output device. Afterwards all that's left is a little latency correction with #AudioHijack and we're off! #LFG

Randomly ran into composer/artist Anna Meredith who has quite the wildly eclectic oeuvre. Lots of good stuff but "Nautilus" from 2012 and its later versions really grabbed my attention which I guess has to do with my penchant for weird polyrhythmic song structures, brass and bass wobs. Great #Atmos mixes on later versions as well. #BrassAndBassWobs

I’m absolutely over the moon, having just discovered Ginger Audio’s SPHERE Immersive virtual monitor controller software.

It completely solves some intractable issues I’ve been having with my Atmos system, such as

• the inability to overcome Apple’s 7.1.4 speaker limit in Audio MIDI Setup

• problems with being able to route audio from my DAWs to the Atmos system

It also adds great features like bass management, and built-in Apple Spatial Audio rendering!

Meine Meinung: Bei den heutigen Preisen für UHD-Disks sollte #Dolby #Atmos eigentlich wortwörtlich zum guten Ton gehören. Die Synchronisation wird sowieso gemacht und die 3d-Sound-Objekt-Daten liegen aus der englischen Fassung vor, da sollte sich das doch relativ einfach zusammenführen lassen.

At last, I’ve got all six Klipsch Dolby Atmos speakers sitting on top of the 7.1 system.
