"I grew up in a small village in Sweden. There wasn’t much to do there. Painting my first wall was more or less just something I did to get some excitement. I wasn’t into art or anything like that at the time. Later I got to know other writers from the area and they inspired me a lot. Even though it was a small town, the quality of the painters was really high. I got hooked and have been drawing and painting ever since, even though it hasn’t been on walls all the time.
...
I’m always watching stuff in everyday life though that inspires my art work. I’ve gotten lots of weird looks in the subway from staring at people’s faces for too long…" - 2016 interview https://streetartunitedstates.com/interview-yash/

”Tree Of Life” by Swedish artist Julia Rio @juliario with help from @mvhnadia at Kronobergsgatan 35, 112 33 Stockholm, Sweden in September 2024 for @kollektivet.livet. Photos taken August 2025. Thanks to @streetartcities app for location.
⠀⠀⠀
'Someone once told me “Vision yourself as a tree, stay grounded with steady roots, and let your mind and thoughts be free, like a crown swaying in the wind.”

Just like trees, the vase is a powerful metaphor for life itself, exploring how it mirrors peoples experience of containing memories, emotions and thoughts. In many traditions, the vase is a symbol for liberation and transformation, and the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth.

When I started painting murals in 2016, my main inspiration was textile storytelling and patterns. Since painting #kronobergsgatan35 has been a long-term goal, I felt an urge to reconnect to what first inspired me making art. The patterns in this mural draws inspiration from Tatreez, a traditional Palestinian embroidery technique, passed down from mothers to daughters. I’ve been looking at stitches like the olive branch, ears of corns and bunches of grapes, tree-motifs with meanings such as peace, connection to land and resilience. The powerful shapes and storys of this handicraft absolutely blew me away, and seeing craftivists around the world stitching tatreez in solidarity with Palestine, gives a glimpse of humanity in all madness.' @juliario Sept. 26, 2024

"Nowadays, Odin is sometimes used as a symbol within right-wing parties excluding people. To counter this, we used Odin as a contemporary model for equality. His ravens fly around the world to tell him what is happening in the world. One of them whispers it in his ear, after which he takes a critical look at society. Amongst other references he is holding a book with the anti-racism icon on the cover." @studiogiftig July 4, 2022

Brilliant Art By Le CyKlop (10 Photos)

By putting an eye on them, I try to bring them to life, give them a soul and give birth to a form of fantasy. Think about the mythical creature, the Cyclops, sporting a single eye in the center of its forehead. Now imagine seeing Cyclops-inspired art embedded in your everyday urban landscape! This is exactly what the French street artist, Le CyKlop, accomplishes with his witty, transformative art.

Hailing from the vivacious city of Paris, Le CyKlop’s affinity for street art was ignited […]

Jaume Plensa, here on display at the “Art Zuid” art festival, is an artist from Barcelona who is known for his large sculptures of women’s heads with closed eyes, creating a calm, meditative feel. 🗿⚒️🧘🏾‍♀️

His works appear in cities like Dubai, London, Nice, and Tokyo. In Chicago, his Crown Fountain features faces of local residents.

In 2015, Plensa held a praised exhibition in Venice’s Basilica di San Giorgio Maggiore during the Venice Biennale. 💒

At the IJ-Hallen, artists are spraying graffiti and street art on the old shipyard walls (without consequences 😅). It’s an open-air gallery where creativity is welcome. The art changes often, so the place always feels fresh and alive. 🖼️ 🎨

This spot started out of an old industrial area that later became a place for artists, markets, and new ideas. At first, the graffiti was unofficial, but locals and the city began to support it. Now, artists from all over the world paint here, making it a colorful and popular place to visit. Unfortunately it’s losing it’s rough edges rapidly, being swallowed by yet another brand new suburb. 🏙️
