A new #Tiwanaku Temple Site Discovered in #Bolivia

« Much about the Tiwanaku civilization remains unknown,” said Penn State #archaeologist José Capriles.

“Their society collapsed around 1000 CE and was a ruin by the time the Incas conquered the Andes in the 15thC.

“It boasted a highly organized structure, leaving remnants of architecture such as pyramids, terraced temples & monoliths, mostly around Lake Titicaca. »

Sci.News: Breaking Science News · Tiwanaku Civilization’s Temple Discovered in Bolivia | Sci.NewsArchaeologists in Bolivia have discovered an ancient complex roughly 215 km (130 miles) south-east of Tiwanaku’s historical site, where a large, modular building with an integrated, sunken courtyard strongly resembles a Tiwanaku terraced platform temple and demonstrates substantial state investment.

The #EuropeanArchaeologyDays at last !
Since I’m a sad #archaeologist trapped in an office today, I’ll send photographs of past surveys in the northern #Yanbaru woods. And since it’s friday, it will count as #FootPathFriday as well !
This is from a survey in february 2020, probably the most productive we ever had in Yanbaru. Since I’m a contractor, I am not allowed to give the exact location and I wiped the photograph properties.
