Robin's nest in the Gravenstein apple tree update. I saw two robins sitting in the nest this afternoon as I was walking by to turn some water off. I tried to take their picture but they got off the nest and protested. I decided to take a photo to inspect the nest, saw a little pink fuzzy thing so I guess they're starting to hatch.

Y’all? Please recognize the beautiful moments in your life. Now more than ever it’s important to take care of ourselves, practice gratitude, breathe.

Last night I started watering & a bunch of huge #dragonflies came & played in the mist. While the sky was turning colors. And I saw an #AmericanRobin #Flicker #hummingbird #butterflies and people walking the cutest dogs.
It was a mindblowing moment 🙂

Glad I left my phone inside. Allowed me to experience the moment.

First Visitors

The first avian visitors to my birdbath have been a Northern Flicker and a couple of American Robins, although they seemed to be more interested in the adjacent plants than the fountain. One robin actually perched on the rim of the birdbath in order to drink from the drip tray of the nearest plant pot. I suspect they were attracted by the fountain but the hot weather made the still water an easier source of refreshment.

Steel Gray Feathers and Copper Breast

This American Robin (Turdus migratorius) was foraging in the grass in my front yard early one spring, one of five or six searching for insects among the blades. Like Eastern Bluebirds, robins belong to the thrush family, though their behavior feels a bit more communal. While bluebirds are common visitors, robins often seem shyer—though at certain times of the year, they move together in flocks. I’ve heard that bluebirds flock as well, but I’ve yet to see it for myself.

The photographs I share here don’t appear as vivid as they do in my Pixel’s gallery. To make them load more easily, I reduce their size and slightly lower their quality. Take a look:
