As the #Barbican prepares for its major #AliceNeel retrospective, here's a great story about the #artist.

When curator John Perreault wanted to include her work in a show he was preparing of #nudes, she painted him naked as her contribution to the show...

a great #feminist moment; taking the male gaze & turning it on itself, while also denying a privileging of the naked female subject (as aesthetic choice)...

so looking forward to this exhibition!
