PindoramaNem os lugares mais protegidos estão livres dos impactos do uso extensivo de agrotóxicos no Brasil, que é o maior consumidor de insumos químicos para uso agrícola do mundo. Um estudo que contou com a participação de pesquisadores da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) identificou a presença de agrotóxicos em amostras de sedimentos de seis lagos e áreas alagadas de montanhas intocadas em dois parques nacionais brasileiros: o Parque Nacional do Itatiaia e o Parque Nacional da Serra dos Órgãos, ambos localizados no Rio de Janeiro.Nas amostras, foram encontrados 17 tipos de venenos, incluindo herbicidas, inseticidas, fungicidas e acaricidas. Os produtos mais frequentemente detectados foram carbendazim e carbaryl, seguidos por acetochlor, clorpirifós, diuron, metolachlor e tebuconazole. O clorpirifós foi o que apresentou as maiores concentrações e risco ecológico potencial.
