@ascentale @bikenite A1. Abbotsford, BC, Canada.

Good in most respects, but got bad news this morning as far as one of my prospects to be able to get back cycling again. Not enough frames out there that will support tall fat people...

So I'm wondering how I could ever crowdfund successfully enough to afford a replacement..

Otherwise enjoying BC & observing the rural cycle culture where I am. #BikeNite #BikeTooter #Abbotsford

Cyclists are pretty familiar with cycle paths or lanes that deadend. But car-centrism also includes sidewalks that disappear.

I walked about 2 miles and in that time I had to cross back and forth across the street several times because sidewalk was only on one side of the street and it was somewhat random which side would have it

There usually were not crosswalks where wheelchair users/peds were forced to cross and this in a neighborhood where many have gigantic trucks #CarCentrism #Abbotsford

On the way back from my walk, I saw in the distance two young children riding bikes with training wheels on the narrow sidewalk (it's a car-centric neighborhood), with a grand/parent behind them.

The young child in front appeared to be staring at me and I wondered why.

It turned out he was looking at a young child riding in the street on the wrong side, watched over by a parent behind them on a bike.

As we all passed, I said, "it's like Critical Mass #Abbotsford!" 🚲

A new report from the #Canadian Chamber of Commerce has ranked 41 census metropolitan areas on their vulnerability to U.S. tariffs– and #Abbotsford - Mission trumps the rest of B.C. at 15th place in the country.

According to the Chamber, 330 exporters trade from Abbotsford to the United States, and 90.7 per cent of the border city’s total goods are typically bound for its southern neighbour.

Back in time to June 2019.....

Abbotsford is a historic house located near Melrose in the Scottish Borders. It was the home of Sir Walter Scott, one of Scotland’s most famous writers, who is celebrated for works such as Ivanhoe, Rob Roy, and The Lady of the Lake. Abbotsford is not just a home but a reflection of Scott’s creative vision, personal tastes, and deep love for Scottish culture and history.

Abbotsford was designed by Scott himself, blending Gothic, Baronial, and Tudor styles. The house is a masterpiece of 19th-century Romantic architecture, featuring crow-stepped gables, turrets, and intricate detailing inspired by medieval and historical Scotland.
