i’m inspired to do more writing this year and I’m wondering what tips, apps, and tools you utilize for making it more comfortable / motivating / regular? Divulge your secrets!!!
@EpiphanicSynchronicity @tommi Thank you for asking why I choose #Ulysses over #Obsidian or #Logseq for longform writing! I couldn't get the answer into 500 characters, so I wrote a little blog post about it. (I appreciate the inspiration!)
Please let me know what you think.

@andywenk @bookstodon @writingcommunity I hear what you're saying but there's no shame in needing/wanting more than the basics.
An idea won't go anywhere if you can't get your thoughts organised. Think about all the stories that never got written because some people pre-21st C just didn't have the kinds of minds that could only use a pen and paper.
I definitely need help organising my brain and my stories.
I think it's a beautiful thing to have these tools.
Has anyone tried the new writing app Scribble? Would love to know what you think.
Currently watching a walk through and I like the look of it but it could be because I'm a) procrastinating, and b) still looking for the perfect novel writing software.

So many apps, so difficult to chose…
Following the recommendation of @thesiswhisperer, I was going to investigate the Readwise/Reader combo, and instead came across a combo called Author/Reader/Liquid (https://www.augmentedtext.info/). Has anyone tried it? It looks fantastic, and I love that it’s a purchase and not a subscription.
FWIW, I have Scrivener but never really warmed to it. One drag with Author/Reader, however, is the lack of iPad versions…
(regarding the #writingapps reviewing) I already know the big names, so to speak, like Scrivener and Ulysses. Have been a user of Novlr, which is nice. But now I am in a search for the obscure. Obsidian Plugins, Notion Templates, Linux-Only Open-source stuff...
I read somewhere that it is a good idea to make a pinned post with a bunch of hashtags for stuff one is interested in. Well, here are some, in no particular order
#filmmaking #theater #novels #literature #writing #screenwriting #BrazilianMusic #shortstories #WritingApps #NotetakingApps #CrimeStories #horror #ClassicFilms #cinema #pasta #Köln #flâneurie #procrastination #Cafés #Bratwurst #Tangerines #AbandonedPlaces #RandomConversations #Teaching ... (to be continued, possibly)
Does anyone know an app where you can write entries and get "rewards" for the word count, in app?
Like there's this Finch app I got where the more you write, the more energy it gives to your lil penguin in the app. But it seems to stop at 35 points no matter how much you write.
@annewalk @bookstodon whatever you do, don't watch videos on YouTube of people showing you how they use the Longform app because it's full of Second Brainers talking a lot of wank.
If you need help, send me a message.

I love using #Obsidian with the Longform plugin.
I do wish you could indent paragraphs but it's still amazing. Highly recommend.
LOL Nothing wrong with Word, or being old! As long as it works for you!
