2020 on #MearesIsland. #ThickTrunkTuesday
A colossal #ancient yellow #cedar #tree is part of the #Tlaoquiaht #FirstNations #TribalPark.
I hiked the big trees trails there - magnificent!
This #ancient yellow #cedar #tree is older than the Great Wall of China & older than the Vatican.
All #ElderTrees - of this colossal & majestic scale, must be preserved & their ecosystems protected.
A magical tribute to Canada's #GnarliestTree - in #AvatarGrove in #PortRenfrew.

We fought hard to save the ancient trees & their life-sustaining wild ecosystems, to get Avatar Grove area protected & turned into a public park. It was previously on the corporate deforestation list prior to the hard grassroots fight to save this area of Port Renfrew, where old growth forests were rapidly dwindling due to colonial capitalist style of short-term greedy gains & putting nature last. Nature should be first.
The #documentary film that I'm featured in is now available for #free viewing:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Rb4q_dXo7Bw
It includes footage & shared #deforestation issues with the #Amazon. It's all connected.
I'm holding back tears near the end of it. I was arrested a few days after doing the documentary film interview at gate to River & Landback resistance camps.
Fellow #SaveOldGrowth forest defender, Sheena, made a short film. It includes the jingle dance circle with me & several other #environmental #landback #activists on the bridge between River & Landback resistance camps.
River & Landback camps were main strongholds at Fairy Creek blockade. River camp was the first resistance camp set up in 2020 & it ran for a year before final big raid. There are 2 very rough logging roads that lead up to untouched old growth forest tracts from these camps. River camp is also where people could go hike to see/visit with Grandmother & Grandfather cedars. After we were removed, industry started cutting more roads up into the untouched old growth tracts. Teal Jones logging company has since pulled out due to financial issues & everything is up in the air at this time. Temporary deferral was renewed this year for some tracts by this one particular area in the watershed. Still hoping for permanent protections as the elder trees are not included in this small deferral.
"My student documentary on the Fairy Creek/Ada'itsx old growth forest blockade something of a collage, made with many hands and hearts. While the blockade and movement has evolved and gone through many stages, the momentum remains and many still carry forth the activism in heart and deed."
Gratitude to musicians who created music inspired by our past blockade for old growth

Up there in Fairy Creek they are fighting for the ancient forest from high in the trees on platforms rigged of rope and wood the chainsaws from Mulo just could send them falling
Brave protectors of the Fairy Creek blockade, this song's for you.
I believe in the good things coming
I believe in the love that lives on this earth Of Brazilian bodies
I am here to receive, I am here to give
Stay brave, protectors of the Fairy Creek blockade
A hundred elders marched the dawn up a hill to stand upon a holy grove of trees
Older than the Notre Dame
Past picket lines and ATVs they sang for the land they wished to leave home for their children's children
Singing I believe in the good things coming
I believe in the love that lives on this earth the Brazilian bodies
I am here to receive I am here to hear
Stay brave, protectors of Fairy Creek
There's a war been going on through the soul of the world since the break of dawn, how do we share this land we stand upon?
I am a newborn to this place
Though I've lived here all my life
My ancestors came across the sea to stand for what they thought was right they broke trust treaties too can't unright the past is true
But I'm here to understand and stand with you Singing I believe in the good things
I believe in the love that lives on this earth of resilient bodies
I am here to receive, I am here to give
Stay brave, protectors of the Fairy Creek blockade
My whole story is in my heart
Gentle as they fall apart the land remembers more than I ever will
Still I'm here to witness this
Brave ones high up in the trees the sweetness of your farewell kiss the gentle of the morning breeze what stories will they tell of me
One day soon that's all will be
Amid a distant memory what stories will they tell?
And today we sing
I believe in the good things
I believe in the love that lives on this earth of Brazil.
@danmccullough A past #Resistance camp photo for you ️
Tripod standoff lasted 36 hrs.
#ThrowbackThursday
Our first big #hardblock at #FairyCreekBlockade in 2020.
#MonochromeMonday
2021. At Avatar Grove old growth forest park entrance. With some members of Elders for Ancient Trees grassroots activism group.
My frontlines interview with Donna Clark from #XRVancouver has finally uploaded.
I talk about why I'm at the blockades. I talk about the ecocide on my family's matriarch homelands. I talk about the devastating & longterm effects of the US invasion on Vietnam. I talk about how we need to protect/study/find more ancient forest medicines. I talk about colonialism & brutalities. I talk about my amazing resilient villager relations. I talk about how ecocide destroyed my matriarch village ways of life.
I also bring up the sellouts.
We were carpet bombed by #USA #racist terrorists. Fact.
Please take the time to listen to what I have to say. Thank you for those who care enough to listen to me & why I keep fighting for a better world - for all of us.

From 2021 frontlines.
Respect the land!
Do not destroy Mother Nature for short term human profits.
The natural consequences for violating wild nature is immeasurable.
With #SisterFriends at frontlines. Warrior POC women against ongoing colonial ecocide. I had not slept for 3 days & had not bathed in 8 days at that time. I was chaining myself to bridge & other infrastructure for over a week. I had experienced over 50 RCMP CIRG raids by this time & refused to stop fighting back. We, war survivors, do not back down from colonial forces easily.
2021, from the frontlines.
Standoff between unarmed peaceful activists & militarized #RCMPCIRG - employed by #BCgovernment using #BCcitizens tax monies - in middle of the night. It was raining almost all day/night. Frontliners didn't budge ️
From 2021 frontlines.
Posting some of my older photos because I've been stuck at home for a bit & I have a ton of old photo memories.
This is from 2021. I went up for frontlines arrestees court support in #Nanaimo. Pictured here with sister-friend Ojistoh, Grandma Losa, Chiykotin & sister-friend Raven(Wolf) in front of Nanaimo courthouse.
My friend, Jane, from Lake Cowichan, was the first senior citizen activist who was arrested in 2021, at Fairy Creek Blockades. She messaged before heading out to meet up with me at HQ camp. She told me she's never been arrested for protesting anything before but due to seeing too much ecocide still happening in her golden years - declared, 'Getting arrested for protecting Mother Nature is now on my bucket list"
Jane stayed at HQ camp for 2 nights & on her 3rd day, headed out to chain herself/walker to a tripod hardblock. Jane was arrested, along with 12 others that day, after several hours. Jane is a wonderful human being, a musician, a fibers artist, a Mother & Grandmother, who loves nature very much.
It should be criminal to kill trees that are older than man-made cathedrals. The man-made cathedrals still get more protection status than ancient trees that are older than mankind. That is so very foolhardy & myopic of man.
