A couple of weeks ago, kiwis of many ethnicities came together in their thousands at Eden Park. They were there to perform Ka Mate, led by the kaitiaki of that haka, Ngāti Toa. For those who prefer to avoid YouTube and their DataFarming, I posted a copy of the Stuff video about it here;

Spanning an incredible 7,352 meters (4.57 miles), this record-breaking train consists of over 682 ore cars and is powered by 8 powerful diesel-electric locomotives. On June 21, 2001, this engineering marvel traveled 275 km (171 miles) from Newman and Yandi mines to Port Hedland, showcasing the impressive capabilities of modern rail transport.

The Hartland bridge is 390 meters long and carries one lane of traffic over the mighty Saint John’s River. Meanwhile, in nearby Wakefield, the world’s shortest covered bridge is over 700 centimeters long and carries a few people over a rocky gorge separating the Irving gas station and the burned-out remains of the Covered Bridge Potato Chip Company.

Kononenko surpassed the achievement of Russian cosmonaut Gennady Padalka who spent 878 days, 11 hours, 29 minutes and 48 seconds in space throughout five missions (1998-2015).
