How is the current WIP going? Anything you'd like to share?

Planting Life in a Dying City is going well. I'm partly through the first round of edits, but noticed as I went that the last section, Paiokp's story, is half the length of the other sections, so I need to take a look at it and see if it needs further revision/expansion, or if it just needs to be that short.

Overall, I'm very happy with it, and look forward to being ready to publish it.

Pearl's Travels 3: I'm having a small hiatus while I work out chapters 20 through 50.

The Great and Powerful Fuu: I'm finishing up with my writing on chapter 20. The story has been leading up to spoiler, so I spoiler and spoiler, then have to spoiler. It's all coming to a spoiler which then spoilers into spoiler territory, so hopefully readers will appreciate when spoiler happens to Fuu.

Ha, which one?

Primary WIP right now is "The Cloak and Its Wizard," which is currently in revisions for publishing. (Yes, exciting!) It's about pretty much what it sounds like (from the cloak's PoV).

Revisions are going well -- I'm in the middle of the largest edit, which requires making sure that [spoiler] is adequately tied in. That starts from the monster gnawing a bridge in Cairo...

I've reached BOOK III of the current WIP, which amazes me as, when I first contemplated this tome, I'd no idea how I would pull it off. Still chugging along. I got over the miserable hurdle of BOOK II's ending--that character I procrastinated about killing is now really quite sincerely dead--& am now in the fun part. Although everyone's still traumatized. Including me, maybe 🤣

I'm deep into rewrites on my 4th novel. Underwritten as always, I'm unpacking so many things that needed to be given more page time. In the process I've added questions I glossed over that need to be woven into the entire story.

I'm slogging through rewrites of chapters 8 and 9. They're not boring chapters, but they're complex and I'm dragging my heels to fix them.

I'm surprised that I haven't made better progress this month. I'd even be upset, except my creative energies are overworked on other pet projects.

I'm having a mini-life shift and it's strange how that's affecting my inspiration, stranger still that it feels out of my control.

I'm currently doing the consistency check of the new novel which an agent has asked for the full of, and for which I have a live pitch booked for another agent in just over 24 hours.

So far I've found and fixed one character whose eyes changed colour, and another one whose name I managed to spell in three different ways. Also a couple of points where I need to actually think how best to reconcile things.

It had been going pretty well up until summer, with the kids' schedule change and vacation it's been slow going but that's fine. I am excited about the story and have some good ideas for how it will progress. It's a prequel spin-off and I like the ways it ties into the main storylines while still being a standalone story.

current WIP

I’m performing a targeted edit on Book 4 of the Kovenlore Chronicles, Buried Remembrances.

Thus far, it’s going great. I’ve been working hard to make it through one chapter per day & have managed to maintain that. I cheat in the sense that I choose short chapters on busy days. like if I hike.

Yes, it's a bit of a game, but that’s okay. It adds fuel to my motivation, & no one dies if I don’t finish a chapter (probably). 😬 🤣

Eternal Flame is going well! I'm currently editing the next chapter I'll post, and I'm pretty happy with it, too. The words flow surprisingly well in this project, especially now that we're heading towards the most turbulent plot points of this first book 👀

Book 3 of WWL is... well, it's there. I haven't really looked at it in more than a week, to be honest 😅 I need to figure out what to do with CH3.

11 Talk about a time you sat down to write and nothing came out.

Happens all the time.

Like right now. My WIP is stalled as I wait for the muse to return. I realized recently that I needed to make some major changes to the story of book 2, and while that realization has helped with the story, it has also put me into a mood where just the thought of actually making the changes makes me extremely tired. It'll pass in a few days.

I'm editing, and it's going better than I hoped. I have several plot holes in it that I was aware of while pantsing but hadn't solved yet. I think I have now fixed the worst of them.
Right now I'm cutting the chapters up into sections and throwing as many keywords at those as I can think of. Thanks to Scrivener's keyword search, I can then look at the different arcs separately for flow and logic.

It's a beautiful day outside. I should be at the beach, but here I am recounting a tragic double death and the emotional responses of those left behind.

...might still light the barbecue later, 🙂

I'm working on a novel that I've been writing off-and-on for a couple of years, *The Ground Never Lies*, about a geomancer with an anger problem. It has two timelines that I've finally finished and just married together. I'm currently working on my first full revising pass, looking at the two together and managing the transitions between them. I'm about half done and it's going pretty well.
