@foone well, @stman is working on a #10BaseT - #Ethernet "'modem" that connects via #RS232 #serial, which IMHO is a needed necessity given not everyone wants to setup #WiFi and that the #WiFi232 by @paulrickards seems to be constantly sold out...
As LGR and MVG showcased it...
Also such a "modem" can be powered via #PoE since there are ample of PoE splitters, making this even better...
@paulrickards I assume something based on the @Raspberry_Pi@raspberrypi.social #PiPico / #RP2040 with a matching #Ethernet-HAT would be able to to it.
Espechally since that #uC is easy to obtain and relatively cheap (compared to a #Pi0 / #Pi0W which were used for the #DreamPi #Dialup adaptor and are still not widely available at #MSRP)...
@paulrickards any chance of seeing an #Ethernet232 aside from the #WiFi232?
Bonus points if it can be powered via #PoE...

For #PCMCIA one would've to likely do a PCIMCIA -> USB 2.0 adaptor or combine a PCMCIA -> Serial chipset with some embedded/industrial WWAN modem like the #SIM700E that acts like a modem and is configered with AT-/Hayes-Commands...
Kinda like the #Wifi232 but basically #5G or #4G and call it the #5G232 or something...
@blakespot Great write up! I'll be selling a small batch of #WiFi232 modems this Saturday at the VCF/System Source Swap Meet outside of Baltimore. What doesn't sell will go in my online shop afterwards. Cheers!
OFC I don't expect those slots to be #ISA or something but something like the #OldNet or #Wifi232-alike #NIC should be possible...
I mean if I had the €€€€€ and skills I'd likely try to build one of those myself for the #CommanderX16, but even a simple #RS232 card that can interface with some "#FakeModem" - #Network adapter would be sufficient.
Restocked a small quantity of #WiFi232 serial modems in my shop. Connect your retro computer or terminal to the world of the BBS again!

So, now I just need to figure out what I want to do with it. And maybe upgrade the RAM (and ROM maybe). Is eBay the best place for memory?
Also, to my shame, I can’t find a mini-DIN to DB25 anywhere. So, will need to wait for that to be delivered before I can hook up the #WiFi232 I just got (from https://mastodon.social/@paulrickards/110153034470766163).
Still have a small quantity of #WiFi232 serial modems for sale. Get back into the BBS sphere with your retro computer or terminal with ease!
Has anyone made an #AREXX script to set the clock on a #Commodore #Amiga at startup via a WiFi modem, such as the #WiFi232?

Incidentally, connecting my #Wifi232 to My Apple IIc will have to wait a few days :(
@paulrickards just got the #Wifi232 in the mail! Can’t wait to play with it thank you!!
Yes, the #WiFi232 works on the Amiga CDTV running A-Max 2.5, booted into Mac System 6.0.8 running ZTerm v0.85 31 Oct 1989, communicating over the serial port.
Restocked these again! I only sell what I have on hand. If you’ve been wanting one for a while, now is your chance to own a #WiFi232 internet modem.
Restocked my WiFi232 Internet Modem, super limited quantity.
