#Disruption is a power hammer under #Hypercapitalism that involves rug pulling, a key tenet of this system, whereby own benefit prevails to any negative externalities. Ruthlessness is a ROI maximiser here, and the toolbox is full of vices.

#Evolution is a gardening rake under #commons control that involves nourishing mutual value, a key tenet of this system, whereby opportunity and benefit fosters natural cohesion. #Humanity is a growth factor here, and the toolbox our #virtues as human beings.

tl;dr of the cardinal virtues

1. Prudence: Do what you should do, not something else.
2. Fortitude: Don't give up; but avoid exhaustion.
3. Temperance: Don't give in; but avoid starvation.
4. Justice: Take care of yourself but don't be selfish.

I think there’s a correlation between theologies that oppose too much spiritual mercy, and oppose too much physical mercy. God ain’t that tight.

This is what #life is like to me and a #stoic perspective on it.

Life is a non-stop hurricane force storm of shit thrown into our faces 24/7/365. Or as the #Buddha said "life is suffering".

We can't make the storm of shit stop, even for a single moment, no one can. What we have to do is learn to be like a good fighter. We dodge, duck, bob and weave. We also learn to roll with the punches to lessen their impact. We known sometimes the only thing to do is smile while we pick the shit out of our teeth.

These are where the Stoic #virtues come in. If we are #courageous, #wise, #fair and #disciplined we recognise our true nature. We learn the skills necessary to not only survive but to thrive when we try our best to live a virtuous life.

The most important skill of all is how we help other people deal with their own storms of shit. We teach them our skills either directly or by the example we set. They then become virtuous themselves. If it is the virtuous thing to do we take a metric shit tonne of supersonic shit that was heading for them straight in our own face to protect them. We help other people.

If you can do that you will live a good life.
