Despite a torrent of rain, PGA HOPE and Youth on Course teamed up for their second annual Veterans Day event. The tournament was cancelled, but Vicky Nguyen reports that everyone moved indoors, where veterans, kids, and parents played ping pong and enjoyed lunch, a hat exchange, and speeches.

As a #FilAm, it's always difficult to "celebrate" #VeteransDay or #MemorialDay, because in America, we are expected not to distinguish between #veterans, and we are told we must honor them all as having fought for "America's Freedom", when in fact most veterans have never fought for anything at all, let alone the freedom of this country or mine specifically, a good number of them have engaged in war crimes, atrocities, even #genocide, and America has denied benefits to #Filipino veterans.

It's Veteran's Day. I always attend services at national cemeteries, wherever I am, on Memorial Day, but Veteran's Day.

I'm numb to any sense of patriotism I once had.
