February is #AmericanHeartMonth. It's important to know that taking care of your #heart is also taking care of your #brain. According to the #Alzheimer'sAssociation, somewhere between 5 and 10% (this % varies significantly depending on the study) of people with #dementia have what is known as #VascularDementia, a brain #disease that falls under the #dementia umbrella.

"No support was offered, no treatment plan, no signposting, no leaflets. I can’t tell you how lost and frightened I felt." #Scientists & #neurologists are working hard to understand what is happening in the #brain of someone with #Alzheimer's, #FTD, #CTE, #vasculardementia, and other forms of #dementia. But we know there are ways of helping people w/#dementia (not nearly enough, but still) & #caregivers.
It should not be like this.
