There are a couple of systems I really want to be able to emulate in the future. One of them is iOS 6 (or any version prior to this) I have been looking for years for a disk image or installer, but have never found one. It was my favorite mobile operating system.

Holy crap y'all, Quickemu is amazing! I got Windows 10, (English United States cause English International only allowed me to choose English UK for some reason), installed it with Narrator, downloaded and installed NVDA, and it barely feels like I'm running a VM at all. I kinda wonder if it'd work well at all on the BTSpeak. I could imagine it passing through Braille access on a future BTBraille.

Anyway, two commands I've figured out so far, Control + Alt + G gives control back to Linux, and Control + Alt + F puts the VM in fullscreen.

Using a #VM is great if you want to try out a new system, but its security can only be as good as the computer it's running on.

So when you see me use a VM, I expect that my #privacy and #security are only as good as the weakest link.

#Tails was the strongest link in this video:

What's the easiest way nowadays to run some flavor of a Linux desktop in a virtual machine on a Mac nowadays?

Tried Ubuntu + VirtualBox unattended install, it's been running for hours with a broken screen, no feedback on progress. Far from amazing experience.

I really don't care what Linux it is, as long as I can boot it up quickly in a VM and install some desktop software.

It's weird how some things just stay with you. My first exposure to mainframes was VM/CMS back in the mid-80s at IBM. Back then, the command to clear the screen was 'CLS'. I must have typed that hundreds of times over the years. Now I always add CLS as an alias for 'Clear' on my ZSH profile on macOS. As I say, weird.

I've gotten so used to running my everyday Unix system as a VM on top of various host systems that I notice myself hesitating to install it on bare metal. It feels unsafe. With a VM, I can back up the disk image(es) in various ways (wholesale or incremental snapshots), move it to new hardware, transfer it to a completely different environment and have it up and running in no time. On a bare metal machine, I feel "stuck". Does that make sense to anyone out there? #virtualmachine #vm #kvm #unix
