In the days since the season opener, Shane van Gisbergen has written a lengthy statement on social media explaining his concerns.

"It’s not a secret I haven’t been a fan of the way the Gen3 car feels and drives," wrote SVG, "and behind closed doors I’ve been pretty critical of things and tried to make it better... I am not going to pretend it’s all roses when it is not."

I like watching sport in general and have a soft spot for #cycling #couchpeloton #tdf, #cricket, #f1, #v8sc #repcosc, and #motogp. I'll honestly watch most things though. I am married to @Natalie and we have a dog named Lucy. I am a member of the #neurodiversesquad with ADHD, persistent depression, and generalised/social anxiety #mentalhealth. I struggle with imposter syndrome, and I'm trying to have more confidence to do the things I want to do. I had a traumatic childhood and lost my mum just over a year ago. Honestly the last 12-15 months have been a lot.
