F*king hell. I bought a Uniden SDS100 scanner (impulsively, on credit card, due to recent police activity in my neighborhood). The Uniden Sentinel software that obtains the agency frequency database and programs the radio only operates on f*king Windows. How does a huge company price a product at hundreds of dollars and invest millions in developing software for it and it only works on one platform? #uniden #scanner

I'd seen a lot of mention of the Uniden SDS100 scanner battery puffing and failing, but I was not expecting one of ours to smash the battery compartment off the scanner to escape. The gaff tape is old so I suspect the plastic latch failed long ago.

37y as a #radioamateur and only now I buy my first dedicated scanner

I plan to use it solely for air band traffic - I have handheld transceivers which will do that as well, but not at the same scan speed: this puppy is FAST, scanning 80 channels / second

Programming channels is easy and quite intuitive from the keypad and the large display is really nice
