Just looking at the #unessay project of my students in my class "Global Communication" at @Journalismus_PR "I love my students!!! They are so creative" sums it up. They submitted quizzes, songs, lyrics, rewritten lyrics, poems, brain dumps, presentations, videos. Topics included language barriers, translation problems, Sapir Whorf, multilingualism, dialects ...
Seriously, #ungrading and #unessay are the best: students work on something (any format is fine) that deals with the topic of our class
Giving feedback on oral reports: I have everyone grade everyone and collect all the feedback. Then I read through the complete stack for a student and share to them 1) what their peers liked/found useful, 2) what they were curious about afterwards, and 3) how this ties to things we'll be doing later in the semester.
Student response has been over-the-top positive!
