Does anyone know much about typewriters?
I have this Underwood that I need help identifying so I can try to learn how to maintenance it, but so far I'm not getting anywhere. My very bad dyscalculia probably is not helping in my search.
I'd really appreciate any help!

I no longer own a typewriter, but I learned to type on one and I have used a few of them, through the years. But my favourite is my grandfather's #Underwood. This fabled American company was acquired by the Italian #Olivetti in the late 1950s.
I miss the mechanical #typewriter.
@kate One of the joyous things about using a #typewriter is the clear traces of humanity on each page. Even if I can’t make out the words, I recognize my typing: the faint ‘h’ on the #Underwood, the tendency to get double-strikes on the ‘a’ all build my certainty that I typed that page.
Now I just need more folk to type to.
Playing with the #Underwood font I downloaded, #clipart from pixabay, and making weird things that might print on the tiny printer (2.25" thermal paper)

@dancinyogi In fact, I learned typing in #SummerSchool and used my Dad's #Underwood with #blank key caps. I was eleven. Never stopped writing, really.

Look at my new treasure! I’m still looking into it, but it *might* be a 1949 Underwood Universal typewriter. Depending what’s involved, it’ll either be decor or a functional piece. Either way, my kids can’t wait to play Wednesday with it.
