"The administration’s claims to monarchical power are a real threat to America’s constitutional order. But its executive orders and policy feints are so haphazard and poorly articulated that they amount to a kind of autocratic takeover written in smudge-able crayon: terrifying, cartoonish, and vulnerable to erasure, all at once.

This is not to say that Americans should ignore Trump’s efforts to make confetti of the Constitution. Rather, when evaluating any one Trump policy, one has to keep front of mind the possibility that it simply won’t exist by the end of the week. Despite an energetic effort by some right-wing intellectuals to make Trump out to be some kind of 14-dimensional-chess player, his approach doesn’t resemble chess so much as a denial-of-service attack on a functioning government."

The Atlantic · The No. 1 Rule for Understanding TrumpBy Derek Thompson

I am leaving voicemails on every office voicemail Senator Chuck Schumer has because his staff is either not answering calls or overwhelmed. Won’t you join me this morning?

The CR and its cloture vote must be no.

And his offices are:

Albany: 518-431-4070
Binghamton: 607-772-6792
Buffalo: 716-846-4111
Melville: 631-753-0978
New York City: 212-486-4430
Peekskill: 914-734-1532
Rochester: 585-263-5866
Syracuse: 315-423-5471
DC: 202-224-6542

I bet he wants to hear from you.

The few #maga commenters left are definitely only the dumbest ones still hanging on.

They all fail to understand how the USA is not going to win a #tarriffs war with the entire world, and think the isolation will actually make the #usa better.

They are so afraid of the outside world they want this, and there is no helping those folks.

We should make it a requirement to be able to write an essay before you receive #goverment retirement.

Some Republicans appear to have a good idea about the agents of influence floating around the Trump administration. Senator Roger Wicker, Republican of Mississippi, said after Hegseth’s speech, “I don’t know who wrote the speech – it is the kind of thing Tucker Carlson could have written, and Carlson is a fool.”

The former Fox News talkshow host, now with his own podcast, has deep ties to the regimes of Putin and Orbán of Hungary. A fount of Russian disinformation, he is at the center of a circle that includes Donald Trump Jr and JD Vance, bonded as lost boys, abandoned in childhood, and who persuaded Trump to name Vance as his running mate.

Hegseth and Tulsi Gabbard, a pro-Russian echo chamber, now the national director of intelligence, were brought into their orbit.
