Mal TorresCounty Alerted to Armed ManSouth Texas is usually quiet on any given day. We too, do rush about to get to work or church like our “metro - suburban” counterparts but, at a much slower pace. These alerts always make my stomach tight because I know the person (“illegals” to use the local term) the alert is sent out; has a high likelihood of dying or being injured by a officers hand. Our local cops have no one watching them and this is “Fucking Texas” after all where cruelty is the god-damned point. Law enforcement in these small towns are vaulted into a hero worship status like Friday high-school night quarterbacks. My heart just hopes the armed man doesn’t meet the boot and baton or a fast flying slug from our local injustice system in uniform. I have heard with my own ears jokes about shooting people at a townhall with elected leaders to include federal - the electeds just laughed it off. Those law enforcement men are glorified hunters we pay to treat scared humans like they are vermin. I fear they view brown bodies as non-human and lower than say a deer, they would hunt for their family’s dinner table. This week (it happens daily) the American public was given a front row seat to view another documented, on video, of murder by cops and first responder apathy. Again, the victim was a man in dire distress and pain - he called out, tried to comply while, those inflicting on Nichols’ his last heartbeat and last cry to the feminine being to gave him life. MOM!
