Jack C.<p>Heard "Ready to Go" by Republica on my way into work this morning and it instantly reminded me of riding Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point. After an accident caused the ride to shut down it was retrofitted into Top Thrill 2, which I haven't ridden, but part of the conversion was turning the single hydraulic launch into a multi-pass magnetic launch. Juliet Merida, Dum Tran Elf 🏳️‍⚧️<p><span>Cedar Point's Top Thrill 2 won't reopen this year after running for only a few days after its debut this spring.<br><br>The armchair engineers at Coasterbuzz (who usually end up being right) suspect it's in part because of a different center of mass on the new Zamperla trains.<br><br>Comparing videos from the old Intamin trains on the original ride to videos of the new version there seems to be more "roll" on the trains, which suggests that at very least the seats are higher from the track.<br><br>Observations of sensors placed on one of the trains being used in test runs seem to indicate they're testing stress on the chassis of the trains, possibly meaning there were cracks either forming or potentially forming.<br><br>Best of luck to Cedar Point and Zamperla while they try to make this cursed penis-shaped thrill ride work. MouseAT<p>Zamperla leaked information about the revised Top Thrill Dragster. Now removed from their web site, it's still available in Google cache.</p><p>The revised TTD will apparently be a triple-launched LSM coaster, with forwards/backwards/forwards launch speeds of 74/101/120mph.</p><p>Assuming Zamerla pull this off, that's a significant drop in launch power, and cements this as "meh" for me, rather than bucket list.
