The #ThursdayFiveList on this Halloween Eve is #TheNightOfTheLivingBand. List bands that returned from the grave.

Okay, I'm going to attempt a more proper 5, although I'm interpreting loosely. (This was hard.)

1. Grateful Dead (link and lengthy explication in my previous post)

2. Jane /Jefferson Starship
I'm not really clear on all the reincarnations of Jefferson Airplane, but I know this was one of them -- and mainly I wanted to hear the banger intro to this song.

3. Lonely Days / Bee Gees
I love the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, but I think my favorite Bee Gees song is from their first incarnation.

4. Black Magic Woman / Santana
Because Halloween.
song.link/p0qnpnszs7kvv

5. Hurt / Johnny Cash
Okay, not a band, but a rather famous recovery/revival story. Also, a bit of Halloween vibe cuz The Man in Black.

#ThursdayFiveList #TheNightOfTheLivingBand

Not just bands but legendary East-Coast hip-hop artists that came back in 2010's or 2020's after a long absence

1/ Mobb Deep - Against The World (on the brand new & already classic Infinite, 2025) : soundcloud.com/mobbdeepqb/agai
"See you on the other side !" RIP PRODIGY

2/ Foxy Brown - Coco Chanel Feat. #NickiMinaj -- her true heiress -- (2018) : youtube.com/watch?v=uQ2VbND9bYA

3/ Black Moon - Children of the Night (on Rise of Da Moon, 2019) : soundcloud.com/duckdown/08-chi

4/ Cormega - What's understood (on Realness II, 21y after the original Realness album!, 2022) : youtube.com/watch?v=B287LijTLpo

5/ Smif-N-Wessun - Stahfallah (on The All, 2019) : youtu.be/rImkhbd1RXY?si=TlklxT

* Outside East-Coast, honorable mentions to #ThePharcyde with "My Man" (2022) and #Brandy with her B7 album (2020)

I've found this week's #ThursdayFiveList a tricky one.
#TheNightOfTheLivingBand, bands that have broken up, disappeared or otherwise gone quiet, only to return.
I've tried to avoid bands that have come back as tribute bands to themselves (I'm looking at you Messrs Gallagher), and I think these more or less fit the bill, though this is quite an eclectic collection.

Fairground Attraction - Learning To Swim

Madness - Lovestruck

Rolling Stones - Angry

King Crimson - Level Five

And finally, the Trigger's broom of vocal groups, The Drifters with Under The Boardwalk

This is going to be a quick list of different music genres that just popped into my head.
Exceptionally without links, as I am visiting friends and have little time.
Here's my Zombiecalypse ;-)
#ThursdayFiveList #TheNightOfTheLivingBand

The Doors - because of Jim, the wild poet

Shocking Blue - I love Mariska Veres dark voice

Weather Report - because of Jaco, of course

The Cranberries - I truelly miss Dolores O'Riordan's voice and political correctness

ISIS - just ISIS, love their music

#TheNightOfTheLivingBand is a great #ThursdayFiveList for #Halloween!

The five bands I'd raise from the dead would be:

1. As Tall As Lions - You Can't Take It With You
last.fm/music/As+Tall+As+Lions

2. (Obligatory) Soundgarden/Audioslave - Bring Em Back Alive last.fm/music/Audioslave/_/Bri

3. The Academy Is... - The Phrase That Pays
last.fm/music/The+Academy+Is..

4. Avicii - Wake Me Up
last.fm/music/Avicii/_/Wake+Me

And my last might be more of a zombie..

5. Minus the Bear - My Time

The #ThursdayFiveList on this Halloween Eve is #TheNightOfTheLivingBand. List bands that returned from the grave.

So, I have exhausted myself coming up with just one choice. I'll add more if/as I collect myself and channel other ideas.

Shakedown Street / Grateful Dead
song.link/q3qjnqcd4dvbg

This took a bit of research ... I already knew that some reconstituted version of the Dead recently had a residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas. But then I discovered several other eerie facts that I must share [asterisks mine]:

-- Well, obviously, to start with, the name of the band has the word *dead.

-- When Jerry Garcia died in 1995, the Grateful Dead ceased to be. However, in 2015. three of them, plus John Mayer, formed *Dead & Company.

-- Dead & Co. debuted at Madison Square Garden on *October 31, 2015.

-- Weirdest of all, Bob Weir told of a "cosmic, *out-of-body *vision" and subsequent *dream he had in which he and his bandmates were old and gray, but new young guys had replaced them and were "playing with fire and aplomb."

And I know "Shakedown Street" might seem a somewhat odd choice of song to represent decades of music. But I've always liked this song, for some reason.

EDIT: Listening to it now, it occurs to me for the first time in nearly 50 years that this song has such a funky groove/ guitar/ drums -- plus some "Woo!"s. No wonder I like it.
