Just finished #theMentalist (the last episode aired on TV 10 years ago almost to the day).
The last two seasons are just there because they couldn't do double happy ending - Jane having his revenge and resolving their romance with Lisbon. Their last case is very similar to Red John, except for Jane's loss and revenge so that they could be together after solving it.
Overall I liked Jane's tricks but the show is rather repetitive.

P.S. on second thought Robin Tunney's character in the series might be more analogous to Inspector Lestrade than Watson, but if so there isn't really any equivalent to Watson. I probably shouldn't be trying too hard to make these comparisons anyway, it's a whole separate story, not an adaptation....

It's a pretty typical police procedural with a Sherlock Holmes-esque character (with Robin's character in the role analogous to Watson, sort of), so if you're in to that sort of thing, it's worth checking out! It wasn't my favorite but I definitely thought it was good. It ran for 7 seasons.
On this day (February 18th) in 2015: Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) and Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney) got hitched on the two-hour series finale of "The Mentalist" on CBS. The detective drama ran for seven seasons.
