Aaaand that's a drop for #CDrama #TheFirstFrost - a 24/7 stalker who will not allow her ANY personal space is not my idea of a romantic ML.
The sleepwalking thing was creepy as F and going to her father's grave was the last straw. The idea of seeing him REWARDED for trying to own her life?
I'd hoped to be able to follow the bits of the story I liked, but the clear signs that the ML's surveillance and control will "win him the thing he wants to own" just made me ill. Bye Bye.
Into episode 10 of #CDrama #TheFirstFrost and it's still clear that the ML's favourite English language song would be "Every Breath You Take". Yrch!
Hao An's grandfather in #CDrama #TheFirstFrost is played by a favourite actor of mine. Since the STP is cute and fun, a few more supporting characters like this means I might be able to make it to the end - if I FF every single scene the ML is in
Starting episode 7 of #CDrama #TheFirstFrost and looking specifically for any instance of the ML granting the FL agency. There were absolutely NO such instances in the first 6 eps, if that doesn't change by ep 9-10 at the latest, this gets the boot

The FL. I can REALLY relate to her intensely self-contained approach to life, and admire her for it. I love her competence at work and wish other characters (ESPECIALLY the ML) would let her live her life her way.
The camera work. This is ANOTHER thing I seldom notice, but when a scene makes me think, "Wow! MC Escher!" that's a big plus.
So on balance, with FF as needed, there’s enough to keep me watching for now. Just.

things I'm loathing about #CDrama #TheFirstFrost
At this point, Sang Yan is an archetypical version of an ML I simply cannot stand. I'm already starting to FF scenes he's in, his behaviour angers & disgusts me so much. Trying to crowbar his way into her life and deny her the personal space she has built up around herself is repellent. If he doesn't start respecting her choices (even if suboptimal) and letting her live her life on her terms, I'll be getting through this VERY fast

The ML: after 6/32 there's barely a button of mine he hasn't pushed. The teen him was just a creepy stalker, so that *I* endorsed her telling him to back off before running away to university far away, even if SHE didn't really mean it.
The ML as an adult is now creepy possessive stalker WITH MONEY. His actions literally make my skin crawl with revulsion. I don't find his buying control of her life remotely romantic.

The Music: I rarely even notice the music in #CDramas but the song in this one are so lovely I'm annoyed they're unsubbed. Also, I was impressed that they used Beethoven's 5th in a scene that nodded to the context of Schiller's poem.
The STP: Cute and fun, and Qiao comes across as TRUE friend to the FL, respecting the way she lives her life.
You know you're not fully invested in a #CDrama when the FL heads to the fridge and you notice the temp says "05C" and think "the bacon in our fridge says "store below 4C" #Priorities #TheFirstFrost
This is unlikely to be a common or popular opinion but into ep 5 of #CDrama #TheFirstFrost and teenage Sang Yang is creepy as F - borderline stalker-needs-restraining-order creepy. Marginally less romantically appealing than typhus
One of the nice things about the Interweb is being able to confess to things that would get you torn apart by a mob if admitted in person. In my case, it's finding the VAST majority of male #CDrama actors {and most of the female actors too) utterly unattractive, with an uncanny valley kind of plasticity to their faces. Most seem to have had any distinguishing signs of being human surgically removed
Which is one more thing that makes #TheFirstFrost special - the ML is really good-looking
TFW you take a break from #CDrama #TheFirstFrost to watch a short 10-ep #JDrama #AfterSchoolDoctor only to find it is VERY Japanese. Candid, unsentimental, bold - currently halfway through a 2-ep storyline about self-harm by a 5th-grader!
After dropping #KDrama #DearM , it's time to start a #CDrama which has had a remarkably high level of consistency in comments about it. I've read very little negativity about #TheFirstFrost so even though it's outside my self-imposed 30 ep limit for #CDramas, I'm going in
The First Frost Ep 24
Just finished “The First Frost” with Bai Jingting and Zhang Ruonan The drama is the more melancholy parallel piece to “Hidden Love”. It deals with the main couple findig love, despite her abusive childhood. So it needs a trigger warning for attempted sexual abuse. Their love is, however, gentle and helps her heal and move forward.
Am watching episode 27 of “The First Frost” Wen Yifan finally tells Sang Yang what happened in the past. Now they have a real chance of happiness.
Trigger warning: nonconsensual scenes in her memories
Am watching episode 24 of “The First Frost” This drama is much more melancholy than its companion piece, “Hidden Love”, but the relationship is soft and real. Bai Jingting and Zhang Ruonan have a soft chemistry that feels real because they are both vulnerable.
