TraktThe Company You Keep 1x03 "Against All Odds" review by wolfkinSo the episodes before have been about chemistry between Emma and Charlie. They both live secret lives. They both found something in the other that is irresistible and they look good together. Yada yada yada but for what is ostensibly a crime drama there's been very little actual drama. Until now. Now we get drama. This episode features a side plot as it's main story. A rather uninteresting plot where the Nicoletti family needs to run a con to get this week's payment to Daphne. It's okay as far as a confidence scheme narrative goes. I've seen better. I've seen better in non-con shows. But this was workable. There were a few rough edges like the Nicoletti doing a double cross but I'm not sure why? There's a line about this being out of their realm of character but I have no idea _why_. Then there's the confusion about how they're going to get away with the double cross. There's no smirking hint or nodding at the idea that if you switch your partner's account for the mark's account why would the partner not just assume you screwed them. In the end the partner just handwaves it away but it's just poor writing with that regard. Speaking of poor writing. The drama that will likely be setting up almost every major plot point happens here. It comes when Charlie decides to act on some new information. But holy forgotten forest, WHY? What on earth made Charlie think that phoning that contact and info dumping them would be a good idea? These people are criminals. Violent criminals. I assumed they would come up with a plan to _leverage_ the information, not immediately leak it. I realize Birdie is supposed to be a tech wiz but I felt like they took absolutely no precautions to prevent that information being traced directly back to them. Which made the handheld close shot in the final scene all the more telegraphing what was about to happen. I still like the show and while this is my least favorite of the three episodes we've seen, it was far from a trainwreck. It just felt, reckless.
Just watched the first two episodes of the new TV series, #TheCompanyYouKeep . Chemistry between the leads is electric, caper-of-the-week format is enjoyable. Lacks depth in exploration of right and wrong, cliched plot points can be predictable. But,
It's a lot of fun.
Maybe I just don’t get it, but I cannot understand why #TheCompanyYouKeep has such a high #IMDB rating. What a yawner of a series

Is anyone in #Romancelandia watching #TheCompanyYouKeep? It was intriguing to me that the relationship started with the hot sex rather than build up to it in a typical slow burn as so many TV shows do.
