Hate to add to bad stories about #thameswater …. ….. ok, well I could be fibbing. Yesterday I submitted an online meter reading to #thameswater. I misread the meter and submitted a number about a thousand times more than used ( which was actually virtually same as last reading). ‘It’ would not let me correct the number on same day. So tried today. Guess what? ‘It’ says it is not working as they are doing something to it. My issue could surely have been anticipated by the IT designers?

It, apparently, was suburbia that elected him. Which makes me think it's really quite hopeless now.

It goes back to Reagan/Thatcher.... "Everything and everything the government does is bad."

#ThamesWater is a fantastic example in the #uk

The environment secretary, Steve Reed, has said the government is stepping up preparations for temporary nationalisation of #ThamesWater, indicating it will reject pleas from the company’s creditors for leniency from fines and penalties

Manipulating the market

I was unaware that a ‘vulture’ funds bought into Thames at 60%

The market value of the debt is already implying 30% writedowns. Some of the opportunistic vulture funds are thought to have got in at as low as 60p in the pound; Reed and Ofwat, the water regulator for England and Wales, would look like fools if they approved, in effect, hefty day-one paper profits for them.

"The creditors have requested that Ofwat set Thames Water lower environmental standards – and even for it to let the water company off without fines"

How much more shit do we have to put up with...!

Govt could use a process known as special administration to take over failing Thames Water. The figure of £99bn is based on an estimate from a thinktank paid for by water companies.

The analysis from another think tank 'Common Wealth' shows that it matters who is framing & costing problems & their solutions.

According to a report by think tank Common Wealth, ministers could use a process known as special administration to take over a company like Thames Water and, rather than transfer it to another private company, keep it under permanent public ownership. And it would cost very little in public money.
